Problem was the game went extra innings and ended at 1am. They decided to shoot off the fireworks anyway.
Woke people up and some thought Atlanta was being invaded.
Yes, shoot them off after the game. Any press is good press. :)

I remember that game---I think it went closer to 4 am. That was the game where a relief pitcher--Rick Camp---had to bat in the 18th inning (already after 3 am) and hit the only home run of his career to tie the game. He game up four or five runs in the 19th inning and the Braves lost. Oh how I miss the Braves on TBS and the Mets on WOR and the Cubs on WGN for that matter.

I was in Baltimore this past weekend and ran into 3 guys in early 20's from NJ also there for Cub's games. Asked if they used to watch Cubs on cable when they were younger. No idea what I was talking about.Had to explain to them about how cable worked with the clubs you listed and about Cubs playing all day games, which they were unfamiliar with, and how people, including many kids off during summer, watched them all over the country.

And I'll bet if you ask them if they watch TV, they'd have no idea what you are talking about either.

I'll watch this on TV and the day after, go root for the Huskies volleyball team in Eugene against the U of OR. My wife went to U of OR so it should be fun.

You know what I'm most excited for? Not having to watch "JB up the middle" being run 2-3 times in a row for a 1-2 yard gain.

Don't worry, someone will take his place. Those 1-2 yard runs up the middle are a key component of our offensive "strategy". Add the bubble screens, jet sweeps, and sideline passes and that's our complete offense.

Yep, you'll see plenty of it. That's just the offense they run. The Horizontal pass attack made of sideline passes and middle runs. It just worked better when Lynch was doing the draws up the middle. But the philosophy is the same in hoping the defense is so spread out you can get a big middle run. It may be frustrating at times to watch, but NIU was still 3rd in the Mac in scoring last season. Hopefully Huff can make some bigger plays than bouagnon did. Ironically, Huff has a tendency to want to bounce it outside.

I know it's reading a lot into one game but I think we know a lot about the next few years of NIU football after this game Lose to BC at home and I think NIU will be a 3 to 4 win team the next two years. It's a pretty big game in my eyes

I hope Huff can have the durability that JB had. Joel wasn't flashy but took care of the ball and the kid was never hurt. I'll take those kind of players all day. I have concern if Jordan Huff can handle the load of the #1 back.

And, exactly, how does this first game in 2017 affect the 2019 season's record?

I just feel like you lose to a BC team which is seen at about your same level at home in the season opener, it sets a new bar for the short term. Yeah I know NIU laid an egg against WIU last year, but I just feel like given its the opener against a beatable p5 team, and considering the downward spiral the last few years has started, it just feels like a trendsetter or trend hardening to me. Looking ahead to rest of non-conf, its quite possible NIU could go 0-4 if you drop the BC game.

They don't need to be spectacular to beat BC at home.....
