I don't think Norlander gave Jacob Evans enough love. The leading scorer doesn't even get a mention

mr i don't expect houston anywhere near the top 5, here's a snap shot of the team

You're feelings are hurt easily. What's it like having so much of your self esteem tied to your school's athletic programs?

Sent from my SM-J700T using CSNbbs mobile app
youre an idiot if you really think this....and this coming from an ecu fan??????????????

its a sports forum we trash talk sports....saying its tied to my self esteem is an idiotic assumption

so anyone who who trash talks has self esteem issues?? stupid post..it doesn't even correlate.. how can you examine a persone self-esteem through sports conversations...
self esteem is based self reflection...
person 1: my baseball team will he decent
person 2: you think youre ugly don't you and hate yourself
it doesn't correlate
In every one of your posts here you act like a little fking btch. get over yourself. It it gets old seeing thread after thread bogged down with you quoting 5 quotes in one just because somebody had the nerve to disagree with you.

Sent from my SM-J700T using CSNbbs mobile app

im on ONE thread in the last 10 threads on this site...are you obsessed with me???
real question...

i dont post enough for you to think that unless you are paying attention to everything i post
edit/recount: 2 of the last 19 threads

As for Memphis, he is way too hung up on rating stars. Tubby doesn't have to have high star guys like Calipari requires to be successful. Memphis could well be an addition by subtraction roster, though it is going to take a year or two to get better. But there are already some nice pieces, stars be damned.
Houston I simply still don't know enough about to make my own analysis.
I do agree with his indication that Tulsa could be the darkhorse this year.
WSU, Cincy, UCF, he made the easy calls. UConn should be pushing to the top again.
Since I have limited knowledge of USF, and Tulane this was at least somewhat helpful information. But I'm not sure there is any heat under Lebo's seat is there? Should be, of course, but from the musings I've read from ECU fans here doesn't seem like he has much to be concerned about from their current admn.

While this article didn't allude to Memphis's potential in the future, because they are only returning two contributors from last year's squad and are not bringing in any "consensus Top 100" talent with this year's recruits, I think it's fair to be harsh about their chances this year.

Is there a team in the Top 8 you could realistically see them jumping in the standings this year?

I do not see Memphis as likely finishing higher than 9th this year, (as I have indicated elsewhere), I was just commenting on the overly negative assessment of their talent due to a perception based on rating stars which is daft, imho. Unfortunately, they will not likely be good enough for Memphis fans to give Tubby a chance to rebuild. Josh P. on the other hand they could keep around for years of mediocrity as long as he at least kept bringing in the stars and the media hype that goes with that. That's true all over unfortunately.

Years of mediocrity? Only if you count two as "years." His last two, where he won 17 and 18 games. His first 5, he won 24, 25, 26, 30 and 24, plus some CUSA titles, and was ranked most seasons.

I saw both games against UC, I watched the UCONN game, I watched the LSU game, the UCONN AAC tourney game they lost in, I watched the SMU game as well and bits and pieces of others.

A person who looks at scoring only would think Gray Jr is your best player.
Who is better in the following stats (kenpom):
Offensive rating: Dotson (by a full 10 points)
Effective FG%: Dotson (who also shot more 3's) and 85th in the country
True SHooting %: Dotson
Off reb %: Dotson
Def Reb %: Dotson (2x Gray's)
Turnover Rate: Dotson

Literally the only thing Gray had on Dotson was scoring and getting fouled more. Dotson was a better rebounder, Better defender, Better Shooter and much more efficient player.

So I went through all of Houston's big AAC losses and wins and I found a pretty crazy pattern. When Gray was the leading scorer and Dotson had an Off game, Houston LOST. When Dotson was way on his game, Houston WON and usually was the Kenpom MVP of the game.

Win against Memphis: Dotson MVP 31 points
Win against UCONN: Dotson MVP
Loss against SMU: Gray leading scorer,
Win against UCF: Dotson MVP 31 points
Loss Against SMU: Dotson played near perfect but gray didn’t
Loss against UCF: Gray was leading scorer
Loss against memphis: gray was leading scorer
Loss Against UC: Gray was the leading scorer

Literally the only outlier in this group is the Loss to SMU, where Dotson played absolutely perfect and had a kenpom rating of 130 something but still lost (this tells me houston just couldn't beat SMU on any night, but neither could UC).

So what I see from this is that when Gray is the guy taking all the shots, Houston loses bigs games but when Dotson is playing the star role, they win.

Also I'll throw this last one in there too.

When Houston played Mid Major Akron in the tourney, Gray lead the team in scoring and shots taken and thus points scored. they lost too.

more or less you just watched the end of the season...when dotson took over...like i said dotson dominated for half a season...and thats when he had no choice as everyone figured out to focus on gray

Our best 2 wins of the season
vermont (29-6): gray had 20 pts 5 asts (leading scorer)
rhode island (top 25 most of the season, beat UC): rob had 30 points 5 assists 7rbs
--dotson barely produced any points in those games

this is why i mentioned selective stats..you chose a selection of games, not the full season, because you wanted to present bias...

When Gray was the leading scorer and Dotson had an Off game, Houston LOST. when Dotson was way on his game, Houston WON and usually was the Kenpom MVP of the game.

gray went 9 for 24 in the memphis lose you listed (an off game) and rimmed out on a shot to take it to overtime...the game was lost on gray being off not dotson...seeing how gray had a chance to win it in the end and shot at a low percentage

we beat uconn twice...the first time we beat them gray was the leading scorer and that was @ UConn ..why did you only mention one

your are the definiton of PURE BIAS!! You are a manipulator who twists stats to fit their narrative...

ps we lost to akron because akron had 300lb center who we didnt have the size to stop...gray and dotson both played great in that game....and both dont play center, so blaming that lose on either of them is stupid ..insinuating because gray scored 24 and Dotson only score 19 is why we lost is why you have lost ALL credibility with me....flip their points the outcome would have been the same...we were guard heavy Last season and didnt have the size to play a team like akron....

Haha dude I chose conference play. It’s hard for me to choose the non conference because outside a few games, the competition is weak.

The span of games I selected spanned the 3 months of conference play.

And the numbers show that when teams tried to shut down Dotson and they had success with it, then Houston lost. Gray was the leading scorer in A lot of losses.

I know this: when UC prepares for Houston, they keyed in on Dotson and held Houston to like 45 points. They let gray get his garbage buckets

Either way. Your clearly going to say every statistical fact I post is fake news so I quit. You win. Rob Gray is a winning player who is the greatest player in the conference and nba player Dotson sucks.

No need to lay out your case again, your right . Houston will win the league out right on the dominate big 4 of gray, Davis, vanbeck and Robinson. The the top 5 recruiting class coming in that will whoop the ass of all the established talent in the league.

In Sampson we trust.

Good points have been made about Dotson and he is a good player, but I enjoy watching Gray. He is a smooth and sweet scorer.

thats not true at all!!!

in your UC game it was completely focused on gray...you put tall guards on him and regularly doubled him, that made it difficult to shoot. dotson was open most of the game...we literally discuss this in the gamethread on the houston forum how everyone was focusing on gray, that our only chance was for someone else to step up

here is your coach talking about how his focus on houston was rob gray
http://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/c.../96238792/

"As for Gray, Cronin said:

“He can score all three ways. Catch and shoot, score off the dribble attacking the basket, and get to the foul line. He can do all three, and he doesn’t need his teammates to get him open. He’s a true scorer in every sense of the word.”

“You’ve got to think back to when SK was a senior for us, could we have won a game without him in the conference?” Cronin said. {referencing his importance for houston}

it was obvious the game plan was to stop rob....you make up complete BS..did you even watch the game!!!! rob wasnt even able to score till the game was out of reach becuase he was doubled every play till it WAS decided

you dont speak fact at all...rhode island beat you but they are not good now????..

you insinuated a 6rb per game and top 10 defensive rating player in the league for ucf whoo was a starter was a meaningless warm body... and second player who had 13 double digit games for ucf who was a starter was a meaningless warm body, but tried to hype up the lose of our 9th player of the bench because he led the team in blocks....what nonsense

you have no clue about basketball..you see what you want to see and manipulate the data to prove your point...

you are so biased it blows my mind..why not just use the best games FOR THE WHOLE SEASON (and ignore the weak ones)..oh wait that proves gray is good..instead let me just use the good conference games...BIAS!! FAKE NEWS!!! LOL

i never said rob gray was the greatest player ever, just the best on our team last year..
i didnt say he was the most winning player ever, just that he is a winner everywhere he has been (clearly talking record)
i didnt say dot was bad, i said we are a dramatically deeper team than last year in all positions, we can replace his production with a combination of multiple players

nothing i said was outlandish, even a little, i never even said we were winning the league and had us at #4..my coach and your coach have said everything i said

You say crazy nonsense , and then twisted my words like i was the one saying nonsense ..it mind boggling how manipulative you are

the 900th lebo sucks thread??? or how your 1 star player is a sleeper???

we have more ecu basketball talks than than houston but anytime we talk about houston its an issue..those 2 bball threads are the only 2 long convos we've had about houston basketball...oh no!! 2 houston basketball convos??? and both times you complained

literally in that other thread, you made it seem like all 39 pages were houston when it was only the last 8, ...the 8 pages before that were deep talks about ecu schedule, ecus players, lebo...there were more pages dedicated to ecu than houston

My feelings after ecu fans hypocritically complain about a team taking too much bandwidth when they take up the most in this forum

A minor part of that might be the fact that we have the AAC's largest, best fan representation on the forum, and in football as well.

I agree ECU basketball is atrocious. But my God, watching paint dry is more exciting than watching Houston basketball or even worse, discussing it. I don't think annual contenders are discussed as such length. Much less (at best) NCAA bubble teams.

but again houston is being debated as a bubble team, we have had just as long conversations about ecu basketball and you are projected to be battling for last

and your football is projected 0-12 by many and we have had indepth detailed discussions about your grad transfers, "elite" juco dline, compher, your qb battle, replacing SC for an fcs etc.. ecu is bottom to last in every single sport ...but yet we deep discussion about them

no one ever said we were the top team in the league... this entire debate started when justin said we didnt have the talent to be in the top 5

this entire debate: he is calling houston fans arrogant for saying we believe we have a good chance to finish top 5 and can compete at that level

he has insinuate rob gray isnt a good player, just jacks up shots...that we dont win when he scores alot (which is just false when you look at the data)..stated everyone else on houston's team just isnt good

he came to the houston forum/site and said we are in for a rebuild ...and stated here we should be worse than last year.....
we return 4 of our top 5 players from last year and bring a strong class that makes up for some of our huge weakness from last season...

we are supposedly arrogant for saying we have a chance to be better than last season, from a person who knows nothing about houston

Rob missed 1 game, tulsa.. we scored 10 points total in the first 10 minutes of game play

here is the post game presser:
he said this is the win he was most proudest of this season..he said it looked ugly but we won
and in his EXACT words..its hard to win without your best player...note the "best player" part.. (compares robs importance to what james harden is to the rockets, where he coached at)

at the 4:00 min mark

but you clearly know more than Sampson....07-coffee3 (and every houston fan who watched every game)

why are ecu fans even complaining...what are you going to add to the discussion..

the 900th lebo sucks thread??? or how your 1 star player is a sleeper???

we have more ecu basketball talks than than houston but anytime we talk about houston its an issue..those 2 bball threads are the only 2 long convos we've had about houston basketball...oh no!!

[Image: giphy.gif]

A minor part of that might be the fact that we have the AAC's largest, best fan representation on the forum, and in football as well.

I agree ECU basketball is atrocious. But my God, watching paint dry is more exciting than watching Houston basketball or even worse, discussing it. I don't think annual contenders are discussed as such length. Much less (at best) NCAA bubble teams.

Disagree. Discussing anything ECU is worse than watching paint dry as you guys are freaking terrible in every sport. At least UH puts a good getting better product on the basketball floor. Yay, typical ECU fan has only his fan representation to talk about. Well you guys bring that up constantly and no one cares, it sure has not helped you in any sport.

Hey Pesik, thought you guys already had 13 scholarship players for next year?

https://twitter.com/jonrothstein/status/...8367764481 (UMass transfers Dejon Jarreau and Brison Gresham will visit Houston on July 22nd, per a source.)

FWIW, I was always much more scared of Dotson. But both were/are really good players. Gray is a better scorer that Dot, but Dot was a better overall player, IMO.

we HAVE NO CLUE OURSELVES!!!

we have 14 scholarship players as is...their is a rumor we that we got one of them on an academic scholarship...how we fit 2 more is beyond me!!

our new coach quannas white is extremely close to them though..if we had scholarships i think we would be the favorites ..no clue how we would make it work though

both are top 150 prospects..Dejon Jarreau was sensational at umass last season (top 60 recruit) would be amazing pickups both with 3 years left

Would be great pickups, have some baggage, but can play ball. I just saw that and one of my buddies is a big Coog fan and he was like WTF we don't have any room for 1 guy much less two. White was a really good asst. coaching hire.
