Not a big fan of using a team's home arena for this (yes, I understand the arena is nice), but I do think Memphis is a good spot to hold the tourney, at least as part of a rotation.

Memphis' FedExForum will host the 2019 @American_MBB championship. The 2020-22 sites will be announced in the coming weeks. #TulsaMBB

I believe sites under consideration are off-campus. Arenas in Tulsa, Wichita, Dallas, etc. Memphis/UConn have an advantage with FedEx/XL.

I hope 2020 goes to Tulsa and the BOK Center.

easy access for Tulsa, WSU, SMU, and Memphis...plus, the BOK Center is top notch!

Dont worry. We'll get knocked out in the Quarters.

I'd love to see Johnson, Lomax, and a Sr Jeremiah Martin leading Memphis at FedExForum in the AAC conf tournament...make it happen, Coach Smith!

Great choice. The fan bases from Memphis, Wichita, Cincinnati , SMU and Tulsa should fill Fed Ex nightly . Hopefully we'll never see anything like this again.....

Memphis fans will turn out for decent Tiger teams for AAC Tourney Tiger games, but past experience suggests that other AAC fans will need to attend their games or FedEx will be nearly empty.

the 2014 AAC tourney where we lost to UConn early-on is the best attended AAC tourney to date...

2014 attendance: 63,636
2015 attendance: 45,480
2016 attendance: 38,871

I see why they want to come back.

^^ And that should only rise with the Western schools solidifying with Wichita State anchoring that region. I'll say it again, their rivalry with Tulsa and general presence in that territory is going to spur greater interest from that side. I love what those coaches are doing with their rosters.

RE: Memphis to host 2019 conference basketball tournament
Trust me, WSU will bring an obnoxiously large crowd to Memphis. We'd send several thousand to Arch Madness for a tournament we rarely won, and many of us hated St. Louis, the conference, the conference commissioner, the conference teams we played, the weekend the conference chose to have the tournament, St. Louis' arena, the kids who toweled sweat up off the floor, and any thing else about the whole damn weekend. If St. Louis had a Dairy Whip, we'd even hate that too.

When/if OKC has the tournament, then things will truly be outrageous. We'll fill nearly half of Chesapeake up ourselves.

When the Tiger are not playing, the actual attendance at FedEx is sparse. It is obvious from looking at the games on TV and from the many games I attended in person.

But apparently not as sparse overall as the other cities. Those totals are pretty far apart, percentage wise.

Ahhh, so confronted with empirical data vs anecdotal evidence, you choose anecdotal.

Agree. Memphis feels like the geographic center of the conference.

This tournament location is a 33% longer drive for Shocker fans than what they've been enduring for the last 20 years going to St. Louis.
