all granted releases from LOI this year (im sure plenty others)

None of them remotely comparable to the Mitchell Robinson situation.

Hater.

He must be the most unique recruit in the history of college basketball.

If you knew what you were talking about you would realize his case WAS a very unique situation. He committed to Coach Stansbury at Texas A&M and immediately decommited when he left. He then committed to WKU and Stansbury. THEN his godfather, Shammond Williams, was hired as assistant from Tulane. He signed his LOI and was ENROLLED IN CLASSES to begin July 10. His godfather was let go a few days before he was due to be on campus. There was no head coaching change, he had a prior positive relationship with the head coach, he had signed an LOI, was ENROLLLED in classes, and four days before he was set to arrive he had people in his ear because his godfather was let go. That is a unique situation.

None of this changes that "if" he wanted out, he should have been given a release, which was the entire point.

The second he enrolled in classes he lost the opportunity to play college basketball this year at any institution other than WKU. He enrolled long before the whispers were put into his ear. At that point his options were WKU, professional ball overseas, opt out of WKU and sit a year via transfer rules. Even if WKU wanted him to go elsewhere and play this year he did not have that option.

It sounds like Robinson needs to learn to stick with some of his decisions anyway.

There are so many starts and stops associated with this kid, I believe WKU could tell Robinson to go pound sand --we're just not releasing you-- and it won't hurt WKU's recruiting one bit. He's a drama queen, and anybody that reads the post above would agree.

I dont think he is a drama queen, he has stood up for WKU ever since he verbeled to us, but this last two weeks somebody had finally got in his ear somehow. I think the young man has something to prove and i expect him to play hard for us

He never asked for his release. Williams was trying to use him to get back at Stans by getting in his ear to pull him in another direction, and when someone you trust to look out for you all of a sudden comes to you with a bunch of bs like this overseas stuff, it's gotta be confusing. Can't blame the kid, but he never once asked for his release. He's been rock solid with WKU ever since he committed until Williams pulled this crap after Stans told him to get lost.

What did Williams do to get told to get lost?

Don't know exactly, but I've heard Coach say plenty of times at different functions he felt like he has been an assistant coach since he got here. That tells me he was tired of being the main recruiter for this entire class and the only one on staff who could coach. Tea leaves would seem to say Shamond felt pretty bold being the only assistant left on staff and wanted more on his plate when the head coach didn't think enough of any of them to begin with.

Hiring asst coaches is a huge part of a coaches job...huge in player development because they do a lot of teaching. But if you do make a mistake it's good to see it, early, then correct that problem. But this program will need good teaching asst coaching to reach the potential.

So hopefully that will improve this season. At least on the effort part. We will see. But first got to kick some butt on the football field!

Rarely last season did an assistant talk to Stanz during games. I swear most of the time Williams and White either were scowling or looking confused. Cheeks seemed to have a clue though. Recruiting is the most important thing now days, but assistants need to be able to help a little in-game. Hopefully the new guys will.

I am pretty sure that is not the case at all with this kid...He is a late bloomer, he is quiet and keeps to himself, I think he may just have been a little confused at first with his godfather....He doesn't really like a lot of attention toward him, he has posted many times on social media he just wants to play ball...I think the problem was people in his ear telling him what to do, other programs still after him and Williams leaving he probably did not understand that either....Stansbury flew down there straightened it out obviously gave his family a valid explanation concerning Williams and everything is fine...

MR just needs to get stronger now, concentrate on becoming a better player and get then get ready for the NBA while still be a college student.....Unless something fluky happens we all know he is a one and done no matter where he plays....Doesn't matter if he is at WKU, La. Tech, Marshall, etc...The NBA scouts already know about him and will be watching him like a hawk this season, WKU already getting ready to add more room for the scouts this season inside Diddle to accommodate all of the attention he will draw...

Pederasts. As I said on our Scout board. If you're a grown ass man following an 18 year old on twitter you're staring at the kid from the park bench in your overcoat. If you're tweeting him you're tugging one out and need to go to jail.

Yeah, it's super freaking weird, imo.

There are a few kids that go to a particular school because that's where they always wanted to go. But for the most part it is the relationship that they have with the coaches. How many people on here would want a kid playing for their school who has out right said they didn't want to be there and was counter productive as a teammate.

The 1st person that comes to mind and the last person at Marshall to do this was Kareem Canty after Tom Herrion was fired. One of D'Antoni's 1st moves was to dismiss him from the team. Could D'Antoni have let Canty stay, sure. Would Marshall have won more than 11 games D'Antoni's 1st year with Canty, probably. Was it the right move, absolutely.

If Stans can keep this class together and they make some noise then he'll probably get some good offers and may leave and some of his players may leave as well. But to me that's not building a house of cards. It's not like he brought in all JUCO's and grad transfers to have one or two good years and leave the cabinet empty. That's a house of cards in my book.

If Stansbury gets WKU to 24-26 wins this year and then takes another job before during or after March Madness this year, just how many of those kids do you think will return for 2018-19. My guess is 2, most likely Taveion Hollingsworth, and their 2 star that I can't think of right now.

If its not a house of cards then it sure is the house built with sticks in "The Three Little Pigs".

Same can be said for every program in CUSA, once again love how you single out Stansbury and WKU...Keep on hating though, used to it football not so much with basketball lately...

Interesting deflection, what year is it again? We didn't have Freeman last year and we still finished 4th. I guess you gotta score a little bit to be in the top half of the standings...

Wait, Stans can coach?

I guess we will all find out soon enough right? Personally I think ODU fans needs to continue to worry about life after Trey Freeman and not about what WKU has...To win in basketball you do have score at least a little bit....

Interesting deflection, what year is it again? We didn't have Freeman last year and we still finished 4th. I guess you gotta score a little bit to be in the top half of the standings...

you did exactly what Jeff Jones always does. mediocre. he's always been pedestrian imo by milking the clock and playing stout dee. he's done it at every stop. it's why his lifetime winning percentage is mid 50s. Trey Freeman was one of the finest offensive players I've ever seen and I've been watching ball a long time. Jeff Jones couldn't make tourney with that guy.

almost feel sorry for you guys. but nah.

Robinson would likely be 1 & done regardless where he goes. Even without him they'd have the most talented incoming class in the conference. Most with several if not 4 years to play.

This is the best part. All these E thug WKU fans come on here and constantly talk bad about other teams in the conference then claim they are hated when others respond. You all have not accomplished a thing in basketball yet, so why are you talking like you are the top of the conference. Last I checked that was MTSU.
