RE: College Football preview
in a surprise based on what we have seen so far- Boise St shows up at #28. Means that USF is projected as the G5 rep.

No pressure USF, no pressure at all. Former head coach at Temple thinks the AAC is so good that its champ should automatically get the access bowl slot.

........ starting to think back to that one time USF made the cover of S.I. ....

Nebraska shows up at #27.

So far none of the teams I believe that have shown up in this were in the coaches top 25.

RE: College Football preview
Nebraska 27? What a joke. They'll lose to Wisconsin, Ohio St, Northwestern, Penn St, and Iowa, at least. Maybe Oregon too.

They are officially Iowa Red, in the Big Ten: nice stadium, great fan support, a tough team .... but doesn't do much of anything memorable, except for maybe once every ten years.

7-5 in Big Ten is pretty damn close to 27 almost every time. I think that's the thing that you want to forget.

RE: College Football preview
Being the 8th/9th best team in the Big Ten is the 27th best team in the country?? Seems like it should be BS ... but maybe it's true.

Depends on their SoS, tho, for a Proper ranking of #27. Especially now since with some luck given so many teams in the B1G, the conference schedule can be not Terribly difficult.. and with an easy non-conf schedule could end up making them more like close to #50. But yeah, I could see a Real Tough SoS, a 7-5 B1G team being close to the Top 25.

And Oregon is the final team outside the top 25.

means every team inside the coaches top 25 is in their top 25 as well.

RE: College Football preview
In your opinion. Means to me that there's a pretty decent agreement on who the top 25 teams are.

So that means, because my niece, who doesn't watch football, could pick the preseason top 25 ... she should have a nationally published poll???

RE: College Football preview
I actually was wrong. UCLA was #25 and they weren't in the coaches poll(they only got 1 vote in the coaches poll). Reading the write up that they did on UCLA- you can understand what they're saying- if they can beat Texas A&M week 1, they could easily win 8 games.

Historically, we haven't handled the spotlight well. Hopefully, new coach, new culture. 07-coffee3

If we run the table (very unlikely, but if), the threats would be an unbeaten MWC champ, particularly Boise, SDSU, or Air Force.

But that's always the case.
