RE: Roster
Its not just the numbers....look at where they are in terms of depth. Even without injuries we are going to have freshmen in the 2 deep at LB, DT, CB, & RB and that is just off the top of my head.

Yep. Look at our LB corp. Jailyn Minor is a Senior, Perry Young is a Sophomore and the rest are freshmen.

6 Perry Young LB 5-10 208 So. 1L Birmingham, Ala. / Spain Park
8 Jarell White LB 5-10 200 Fr. HS Cincinnati, Ohio / LaSalle
17 RJ Potts LB 6-3 205 Fr. HS Indianapolis, Ind. / Fishers
33 Jaylyin Minor LB 6-1 238 Sr. 2L Navasota, Texas / Navasota
34 Kyle Bolden LB 6-1 218 Fr. HS Cincinnati, Ohio / Colerain
40 Ty Sponseller LB 6-3 213 Fr. RS Mason, Ohio / Mason
41 Joel Dublanko LB 6-3 235 Fr. RS Aberdeen, Wash. / IMG Academy
45 DeMarco Baker LB 6-3 215 Fr. HS Cincinnati, Ohio / Woodward
49 Tyquan Statham OLB 6-0 220 Fr. RS Oakwood, Ga. / West Hall

Young but super talented with a lot of speed and big hitters.

And no with Alex Thomas out, we get to watch Stephens and Coleman stare at the back of receivers helmets' when the ball is in the air for another 12 games this season...they are the only two people on the roster at CB who have played a college football game, let that sink in.

RB has one player who has touched a ball in a college football game (Mike Boone), but a ton of potential
LB has one player who has played any time at LB in college (Jaylyn Minor), but a ton of potential
CB has two players who have seen a college field (Coleman and Stephens)...not sure about the upcoming talent there though
WR has two players who have considerable experience (Gray and Lewis) and two who have one game's worth of experience (Geddis and Rollins), though they did look damn good in that Tulsa game.
DT has two guys who have played a college snap (Broughton, who could be VERY good this year, and Johnson, who was non-existent last year), with next to no undergraduate depth.

The good thing is our OL and TE's look solid and have enough rotational depth to not worry considerably about graduations, our QB's have game experience, we have a SR and 4 JRs in the 2-deep at DE, and our safeties have a ton of game experience as well...I just hope this staff can bring them all up to speed, because those were the position groups where we seemed to have the most trouble last year.

Craziest thing...Taylor Boose lost his redshirt for 2 ******* carries in the last game of the season last year by a corpse coach. That may come back to bite us big time.

Oh Jeez, my recurring coverage nightmare.....#9....#9.....#9.....

With how excited about this team I am, the depth and experience at a bunch of positions is a mess. Seeing the roster in print drives that home. I am tempering my expectations accordingly. Yes, there are lots of talented young players in place but as you have pointed out there is little college experience there and I do not care how talented you are, a first year body often does't measure up to a body that has been doing it on a college field for a few years. Coaches have their work cut out for them.

To follow up with your comment on the OL, the coaches moved a couple of guys over (Bates from TE, Ferguson the DT project from the Bahamas, etc)....even with guys like Kurtz and the other OSU transfer not being on the roster there are like 2 dozen guys listed at OL right now. Quantity has a quality all of its own.

Off the top of my head

Bryce Beard
Brayden Beard
Tshumbi Johnson
Avery Peterson
Sam Geraci
John Kurtz
Chris Burton

This is a bummer about these guys. You'd think Johnson and Peterson would have seen opportunity to start at WR. What happened to all of these guys?

I thought Boose red shirted in 2015. He was a red shirt freshman last season.

Glad to see Braxton Neal is back on the roster. His length may help this year. Can the transfer from Arkansas play corner. I can never remember his name, but he seems a bit undersized for safety or the hybrid. Still very worried about the offensive line. There are lots of bodies with several very highly rated players, but very inexperienced. I could see this unit being much better after given a chance to gel under a real coach.

I agree with this 100%. Glad to see our guys have embraced the new S&C program.

I am still keeping up hope that the staff can get these guys to 6 wins and make a bowl game...I still feel that is realistic with this team.

Tshumbi Johnson and Sam Geraci were seniors in 2016. Chris Burton was a Grad Student. Avery Peterson isn't showing on the 2016 roster. Did you mean Avery Johnson, who's Patrick Peterson's Brother? If you did, I put him below.

Here's what I found for the rest:

Bryce Beard - His twitter account still says he's with UC, but he re-tweeted his brothers tweet below.
Brayden Beard - Tweeted on May 6 that he committed to Southern Illinois.
Avery Johnson - His twitter account shows him graduating from UC, so I'm guessing that even though he has his senior year eligibility left, he's not coming back.
John Kurtz - His twitter account shows "BGSU Football" so I'm guessing he transferred to Bowling Green.

With the people they're recruiting, and their personnel in the LB Corps, I could see them doing a hybrid 3-4 or stack nickel (3-3-5) defense

Anybody know if Andrew Gantz is going to be back 100% healthy? I really thought we had something with this kid two years ago and seemed like injuries just kept him down last year.

CLF pretty much kept him limited to only a handful of reps and no power shots during the spring ball.

I think they're watching his health and are not over working him. I think he'll be a little rusty come fall camp, but should get back into it fairly quickly.

Do whatever it takes to keep him healthy for the upcoming season. Love the kid.

Not a fan of snap pulls and 60% kickers? 03-lmfao.

For a team with three (!?!?!) scholarship kickers it's astonishing how bad our kicking game was last year.
