RE: Former Georgia Southern OC's suing
It doesn't matter who is right and who is wrong, and principles in this case are an altruistic fantasy. What matters is the optics, the verdict in the court of public opinion, and the school's and athletic department's reputation moving forward. As soon as the fired coaches saber rattle with attorneys you pay up, make them sign non disclosure agreements in exchange for settlement, and that article and this discussion never happens.

The only good thing for GS is after last year GS is so far down the totem pole, so few people give a rat's azz about them, and this article was written in somewhat of a dead period for college football, that this will hardly cause a ripple nationally, but the coaching community is a fraternity and this will surely be damaging in that circle.

Finally, can you imagine something like this happening during the collective tenure of Dale Lick, Bucky Wagner, and Erk Russell? If the answer is "no" then GS should take a real hard look at who is running the show and try to be more like Erk. Being like Erk is never a bad thing.

I am surprised Southern fans haven't called for the AD and the president to answer some tough questions and offer explanations. The pres had to be have knowledge of all this from the get go.

They've called for plenty. If you want to take a crack at getting a member of the administration - athletics related or otherwise - to ever say anything about a topic that isn't 100 percent positive for the school, be my guest.

The only statement anyone will get regarding this is that "Georgia Southern doesn't comment on ongoing legal matters." And as soon as a settlement is reached, the statement will be that the matter has been settled and the school won't make any further comment.

As crazy as everyone thinks we are, do you really think we're just sitting silent?

You said it very well. I'm having trouble understanding it all as GS through the years has been so well coached and managed. Just wonder how many more misfires your AD can stand before he is shown the door. By the way, the Jonesboro newpaper uses the FOI with State even though they don't have to do so for information most times. You guys may what to think FOI in something like this.

FOIA requests were made last season for contracts and show the original contacts signed by coaches but not the admins. We have plenty of information, but little clarification.

As a member of the media, this is what is frustrating. There are some people with the school telling me that the USA Today piece is only one side of the story. And while I believe that a story coming solely from the coaches and their lawyers is shaded in their favor, I can't report that if no one at the school will go on the record with any sort of defense for itself.

Just an ugly deal and if were a fan, I'd be hot about the deal. Even without the admin signatures they still paid them as if they had and if things had worked out and someone wanted to lure them away, I'm sure the school would have demanded whatever payout was provided by the contract even if they hadn't ratified it.

RE: Former Georgia Southern OC's suing
Seems dumb to me on the part of the school. Did someone really think they would fire these two and they would walk away from 4 to 5 months of pay quietly? I'm glad they are gone but they didn't deserve this.
