RE: Football Strength and Conditioning
This is one of the reasons why I think UC is going to do better than the roster from last season merely indicates. I think there was a ton of talent and potential on that roster; it will be interesting to see what a little coaching and player development can make of the talent that is already in place.

Looking through CLF's twitter feed, it is incredible how crazy active the program is. Al Washington hosting a BBQ at his house for all the members of the trench mob, 13 community service outings by the team in June to 7 different locations, staff is recruiting non-stop, players up at 5:00 AM to work out in the Thunder Dome....Its like the new staff has figured out a way to add an additional 8 hours to everyone's day.

If this is a dream please pinch me...

I know, right?

Young energetic staff. Check

Recruiting junkies. Check.

Strong ties to Ohio and the region. Check.

Not scared to recruit against the big boys. Check.

All day everyday involvement. Check.

Coaches in the trenches with the players and not just there for photo ops. Check.

Demanding excellence in all aspects. Check.

Huge emphasis on development. Check.

Players ready to run through a wall for the staff....and coaches ready to do the same for payers. Check

I could go on and on.....Looks like I got everything I have been screaming for since the spring of 2013 when it was regrettably and painfully clear we were royally screwed as long as that clown was here.

Well said rath. (pronounced in a British accent as roth)

The program has gone from a sniffing-induced nap in the coach section to parachuting out the airplane door.

RE: Football Strength and Conditioning
I can't help but think of the NC game with osu and Oregon. Oregon thought they were going to run osu out of the stadium, that osu would be cramping up before the half, and you could just see the fight drain out of the Oregon team as it dawned on them that not only was osu going to match them step for step in speed but they were going to punch them flat in the face when they got there. If CLF's S&C program leads to that combination of speed AND physicality, the AAC is in for a rude awakening.

My wife is getting very concerned at my obsession with pictures of 18-22 year old men.

Seeing how some of these players looked in January, I am not surprised at all why we couldn't finish games.

Yep.. In 2016:

UC led Houston 16-12 after three quarters. Coogs dominate 4th quarter and win 40-16.

UC trails USF 24-20 at halftime. UC fails to do anything in the second half and loses 45-20.

UC led UConn 9-7 at halftime. Lose game 20-9 after failing to do anything in the second half.

UC trailed Temple 17-13 at Half. Failed to do anything in second half and lost 34-13.

UC trailed BYU 10-3 at Half. BYU run game just absolutely ran over us in second half and offense failed to do anything in second half losing 20-3.

UC trailed UCF 10-3 at Half. Again, nothing in second half on offense and UCF wins 24-3.

UC up on Tulsa 24-14 at half. Lose in OT to Golden Hurricanes.

All those games were within reach at halftime or later. In all cases are guys were cooked in the later stanzas. We can go back to prior years (specifically BYU and Houston in 2015) to see similar results. Looking back at the Dantonio, Kelly and Jones years, one of the things I was always proud of was how our teams were better conditioned than the opposition. You think our win over Pitt in 2009 had nothing to do with us having a little more juice than the Panthers in the second half?

What the coaches are doing now are going to help turn several L's into W's next year alone. If we get a bit more out of offense than we expect we might even be a contender.

Good summary. I remember saying many times after halftime, "We're gassed and are going to get our asses kicked".

Gassed and a befuddled no energy put a mirror under the head coach's nose to see if he's breathing. Winning combo...

That Cincinnati schadenfreude has me wanting to quote a lot of posters opinions on Fickell just before and just after his hiring.

I shall hold off until after UC finishes 12-2 with an AAC title and pummels UK in some bullcrap bowl.

LOL! It's similar to wives' fascination of why do coaches and players pat the butts of other players during the game phenomenon.
