i cannot believe i am writing this, but the one that maybe comes closest to this was Anthony Weiner. Now he is a despicable pig, and repeat offender, but I think I remember him blaming himself for his issues. Damn, if that is the best example, they are more morally bankrupt than even I gave them credit for.

He eventually did the first time, but I think he was trying to pull a Clinton mea culpa so that he could reenter office. He just couldnt stay out of trouble.
