Last year at this time I knew we were going to be really good if the team came together. They did. This year I have no idea how good they can be. We will be near the top because the players and experience are there in spite of two big losses. Just not sure how good until I see them on the court a few times or if they are going to be capable of a three peat.

I fully understand that he progressed during the season. I also fully understand 90+% of the time he had the CUSA POY or probably the POY any other year playing beside him.

It makes a difference. It also makes a difference in asking a kid to play a small role...then take over that larger role.

Same thing for the guards....losing those inside threats hurts guard play. So I wouldn't be surprised to see Giddy Potts's numbers to look worse than last year. I don't think they fall much but it wouldn't surprise me to see a drop instead of "the best season he had". Same goes for Dixon ...lot easier moving and doing your thing with basically two POY's inside.

I'm just saying his pick was a "homer pick" . Something he said it wasn't.

He also talked about Western being too young and inexperience...

Western will have 3 Sr players and a Jr with two years of NCAA experience.

Jr. Lamonte Bearden went to two NCAA Tourneys playing for Buffalo

Sr. Dwight Coleby went to two NCAA Tourneys playing for Ole Miss and Kansas

Sr. Darius Thompson went to three NCAA Tourneys playing for Tenn & Virginia

Sr. Justin Johnson a 3 year starter, 2nd team all conference 14.5ppg & 9.5rebs

So like I said other schools have transfers and players that sit out last year.

The one thing he did point out about Western...coaching. Till I see something better than last year. I wouldn't picked Western higher.

What you dont seem to get is how much better we were than the rest of the conderence last year. We loss one game at UTEP which we were up 16 pts with about 12 to go. We than crushed them in the CUSA tournament. Many of our games we were up big before Kermit called the dogs off and thhe final scorers looked closer. We were up 25 or 30 on you guys at your place last year i believe before Kermit eased up. We wont be able to do that this year because we did lose Jacorey and Reggie but that doesnt mean we still wont be the best team in the conference.

Are you suggesting that Charlotte has accepted the SEC bid, paid the exit fee, and jumped ship immediately?

Right now in no order its:
ODU
WKU
Marshall
Middle
UAB
LA Tech

And then everyone else needs work in some cases a lot of work. Truth is I could see any of those 6 making a run in CUSA.

You are right. An argument could be made for this setup:

Tier 1: MTSU, UAB, WKU, Marshall, ODU, LT
Tier 2: UTEP, Charlotte
Tier 3: Everyone else

You must be one of those progressive types. That think if someone doesn't vote the way they want...

they cry and start name calling

You can add it to your totals, or not. But you vote the way you want...you don't get to pick the way I do.

RE: Projected Men's Basketball Finish
My input (from a strictly observational stand point without having fully dived into the #s and statistics) :

1. La Tech (4 good starters returning, good incoming class, Boykins and Bracey might be best duo in conference)
2. UAB (Norton returning is huge, so much potential in their recruiting class)
3. MT (Don't know who picks up the lost scoring apart from Potts and maybe King)
4. WKU (Might be rocky at the start but they should gel by conference play)
5. UTEP (Good pieces coming back w/ a bunch of decent recruits coming in that Floyd can tinker with)
6. ODU (Love Huiett and Godwin's scoring ability, but I have defensive questions and I don't know who's gonna score)
7. CHAR (3 solid returning starters, I really like some of their recruits)
8. Marshall (Decent returning pieces, Watson should help them, not sold on their recruiting class yet)
9. USM (Good pieces back, Griffin might win newcomer of the year)
10. FAU (Really like some of their incoming JuCo guys + some decent minutes returning)
11. UNT (All depends on coaching but not a bad class all things considered)
12. UTSA (They're good, but I'm not sold that they'll score enough)
13. RICE (Too much roster turnover, but they could surprise some people)
14. FIU (Who the hell knows with that roster)

Also, I completely agree with the first poster's opinions on Walters. I think he has a legit chance of becoming a top 3 big man in the conference. His energy when he's on the court is head and shoulders above anybody in the conference. He's stronger than almost everybody else he matches up against which allows his positioning to be superb. Plus he's shown flashes of being able to step out to 15 which gives his game a different dimension.

RE: Projected Men's Basketball Finish
Any thoughts of doing a top 25 for basketball? I used to do it here until it became too much work but I was thinking about reviving it. Maybe a top 30 to be different? Would need regular stady voters. Problem I used to have would be voters would fade late in the season.

I think with new HC McCasland and the players he's bringing in, Arkansas Sta..., uh, North Texas should be much improved this year.

I'd participate for sure. I already vote in the reddit poll so I do it every week already

How does this kid still have playing time left. He was a 2012 Auburn signee. His clock should have run out last year unless he was redshirted and then got a medical redshirt and waiver. And talk about a school hopper he has went from Auburn to Charlotte to now Eastern Washington.
