2. Jackson, WY - The best outdoors town in the world. Expensive to live in, and pretentious at times, but Grand Teton is the best National Park in the US. Going there this weekend.
3. Denver
4. Austin - I like to imagine hearing SRV blaring his guitar out of one of the bars there.
5. Santa Fe - love the art and the food.

I agree about the Tetons. We were there a couple of weeks ago. I've been to 35 states and 4 countries. Grand Teton is one of the prettiest places I have ever visited. I would love to live there but I would have to rob a bank to make that happen.

As far as large cities go, my top 5 would be:
1. NYC
2. NYC
3. NYC
4. NYC
5. NYC

Kennecott. Been there. Stayed in McCarthy, toured the mine and hiked the glacier. It was one of several stops on our honeymoon along that highway. I remember that exact view of the mountains rising above the trees. Damn I love Alaska.

RE: favorite US city to visit
NYC is by far the best city in the US. Its just amazing. Everytime you visit there is something new to do.

NOLA is great.

DC is great

Denver/surrounding area is also pretty rad

SLC is great too as someone said above. Mostly as a hub for day trips throughout that beautiful region.

NYC- Never gets old.
San Fran- Best city in CA by a mile.
NOLA- Family in the area, always a killer time.
DC- Used to live there so we get back often to visit friends.
Boston- Haven't been back since leaving in '92 but looking forward to getting back.

Also, LA- Always wanted to surf the beaches out there and finally got to do it a couple years ago.

They say "there's only three unique cities in the US: New York, New Orleans, and San Francisco. Everything else is Cleveland."

With that said, I'm gonna go with:

1. Washington DC (They have a museum or two, and perhaps some monuments...)
2. San Francisco (That whole unique thing)
3. New Orleans (And once there, I shall gorge myself on cajun food)
4. Seattle (Rainier is on the bucket list)
5. Boston (Haven't been, but once I'm there I'm totally geeking out on the history)

I agree with Tennessee Williams, there are only 3 original cities in the US. NYC, San Francisco and NOLA. All the rest are Cleveland.

Vegas isn't unique?

Kinda but there are better gambling cities in the world....Monte Carlo, Macau, etc.

Vegas is only unique bc we banned casino gambling for so long throughout the rest of the US. As it becomes more available(especially if sports gambling becomes fully legal), its uniqueness becomes less and its existence becomes less necessary.

Vegas is awesome.

NOLA is gross. Bourbon Street smells like piss.

San Francisco doesn't make my list, because I don't feel the need to virtue signal how cool and trendy I am. It's commie central. No thanks.

Denver and the surrounding areas are awesome. All things considered, it's probably the ideal place to live in America (Hawaii excluded).

With rare exception, when I travel domestically, it's west, so I've never been to New England, but it looks nice.
