Casey Shaw Assistant Coach at Vanderbilt
I am not sure if this was posted in the past, but former Rocket basketball great Casey Shaw is an assistant coach at Vanderbilt for his brother-in-law Bryce Drew (the brother of another former Rocket great Dana Drew).

Congrats you can bet he won't be teaching Free Throw Shooting while he was a good player if he could have shot 70% at the line the Rockets would have won at least 10 more games during his career.

And Steve Taylor and Rian Pearson and...and...and. If he'd been Jeff Coil the Rockets would have lost 40 more games in his career.

RE: Casey Shaw Assistant Coach at Vanderbilt
Good to see that Casey is still involved with the game and working directly with his family, no less!

I was friends with Casey back in the day. He was just about a foot and a half taller than me. LOL

A few fun stories I have about him:

One time I was using a bathroom somewhere on campus. He decided to mess with me and walked up to the edge of the stall and simply looked over the door. I freaked out while sitting on the throne. He had a good laugh at my expense. Those dividers were not designed for a world of people close to 7 feet tall. LOL

Another time I was eating lunch with him in the cafeteria in Parks Tower (I think). I got up to get some more food and was in line when some football player (I recall he was a safety, but not his name) was trying to show off to his team mates. He was trying to be a tough guy and bully me for whatever reason, perhaps because I was smaller than him? I turned around and said "John Smith (don't remember his name) I know who you are and I know you play on the football team, be cool man." He was taken aback a bit because I challenged him. He then started to puff up a bit and act even tougher. That's when Casey, who was sitting at a table 20 feet away stood up and said loudly "Hey Ryan, are you having a problem?" The football player quickly turned to see who spoke and realized that it was Casey. The football player said "Naw Casey, no problem, we're just messing around!" Casey said "Good, lets keep it that way." The player and his friends were instantly nice to me. Those guys never messed with me again. LOL
