It was 2009. Such a good moment when the chorus kicks in around 1:35.

Great performance. I like the part starting at 2:37, but I'm probably a bit biased towards brass.

True, true.

Perhaps JMU should just axe the entire MRD and Pep-Band operation since Chad is not there....geez. I think the MRD has been an outstanding group for many, many years and I think they will be just fine without Chad.

RE: 2017 MRDs
I'm as disappointed as the rest of you on the Chad firing, but a good organization does not live and die by one person. The pep band has gone through many staff changes and survived. Time and time again it lives on.
If it crumbles after a single change, then its strength was overly exaggerated.

It remains to be seen what the new head of the pep band will do. I don't think it will have that same swagger that Chad brought, but it's unfair to throw her or the whole band under the bus over a decision not to keep Chad. Give the players more credit for keeping the spirit alive.

I'm just a nerd. Middle voice melody at an impact moment gets me.

The band will be fine without Chad for sure. Whether the program improves under new leadership is all that remains to be seen.

my website remark was simple sarcasm. I'm confident Trippster was playing along.

The MRD website has updated information for 2017. However, there appears to be contradicting information as to what show one will be. The welcome letter states, "I am pleased to announce that our first show of the year, entitled “DANCE!” will feature an eclectic selection of music with a dance theme. We will open with some great 80’s dance tunes – Mr. Roboto and Safety Dance. Our concert tune will open with an excerpt from Rodrigo’s beautiful Concierto de Aranjuez and lead into one of JMU’s most popular tunes, Firedance. We will also use this to feature the Boston Brass as our guests in September! The show concludes with Overture to Dancer in the Dark (Bjork) and Danse Bacchanale from “Samson and Dalila.” But other information indicates that the show one opener is Russian Sailor's Dance. Guess we'll find out soon enough.
