 72 Days to Kickoff... Head Coach Mike Houston

Note, there is no #72 on the current roster. Provides an opening to pay tribute to JMU Head Coach, Mike Houston.
Houston has been a head coach at the collegiate level for 5 years. In those 5 years, he has been named conference coach of the year 4 times. He has taken 2 different teams to the national title game, of course winning last year.
One of the things, among many, that I admire about Mike Houston is his ability to hire strong, experienced guys. Surrounding himself with talented coaching and staff. Sign of a great leader. Some guys in their mid 40's are hesitant to hire guys like Trott or Hanson. Not Houston. I think another sign of his great leadership is while he holds his coordinators and assistants accountable, he also gets the heck out of their way and let them do their jobs.
How lucky we are to have this time in his career. Good luck to Coach Houston this fall. Lose a game and we start up the FIRE MIKE HOUSTON bumper stickers.

After Houston leads us to our second consecutive championship I hope we see him on the sidelines for the fall of 2018. Regardless of when Houston departs JMU he has certainly has left his mark on the program and school.
