I guess Vegas published this before reading the CFN Bowl Prediction Thread. Sad.

If I had money to bet, it'd be on UAB. Think they'll surprise some this season.

Obviously I hope the UTEP prediction is way off but if it is accurate within a game or so then it should produce a new head coach. We'll see soon enough.

Addition of Kiffen PLUS returning 20 of the 22 starters, apparently, gives us one extra win...

Kiffen factor offsets the 20 returning starters

I used to do that. Too many seasons of under performing for me to do that anymore.

As for Tech. We will go 9-5 again. Looking to 2018 as a special season assuming J'Mar progresses and Ferguson sticks around for Sr season.

I'm not saying who we will beat because I like everyone and don't want to piss anyone off but I'll say we will be in every game except one. What that translates to who knows? I'll give a prediction after I see them this fall but take the over all day. If they only win three they are underachieving with what is on the roster. ;-)

AJ Erdely and his backup Tyler Johnson was Mr Football in Alabama and is undefeated in HS football. (34-0) Booth will play.

Rice and UTEP were pretty bad last year. UAB should have a good shot in those games, but all 3 represent the bottom of not just the West, but C-USA.

La Tech has a ton riding on J'Mar. Wonder about that secondary.

USM's defense, especially the back-7, will need to carry us early. Passing offense looked erratic in the Spring game, but running game has potential.

If UNT found some new, legit talent at WR, they could take an early, strong step by beating SMU. This program has traction.

UTSA has some steps to take as well. Houston would be a solid win and recruits would notice. Pretty good setup for an upset.

WKU's new coach hopefully won't run into the turnover-fest that JHop just had in his initial season. He's setup with enough talent to 3peat the C-USA title. He's sure to stumble somewhere, even if he's a 'perfect' hire.

MTU, could this be the year? Need a DLine.

ODU, do you have a QB? If yes, please proceed with beating UNC, and/or VPI, and again challenging for the C-USA crown. If no, enjoy the middle of the East division.

Marshall, Marshall, Marshall. Who the heck are you? The defense looks ok, but Litton needs a lot of help.

FIU and FAU both have reasons for optimism. I expect legit, noticeable improvement, almost immediately, for the money you're paying. LOL!

Charlotte, keep building. You won, on the road, in some hard places last year, but didn't win at home except for Elon. Klugh should take you another step forward.

You are right. If he doesn't pan out or is injured we would be lucky to win 6

Everyone's concern about the Monarchs this year is QB, and I suppose rightfully so. However, I am convinced it is not going to be a problem. Both sophomore Blake LaRusa and R/S freshman Drayton Arnold looked good in the spring game, and they will be joined by JUCO transfer, sophomore Jordan Hoy, who was the POY for the Southern California (SCFA) JUCO conference last year. All three are true dual threat QBs. Last year Hoy threw for over 3,400 yards and 37 TDs with only six interceptions. Of course, the question will be can he do that at the FBS level?

Bottom line, it looks like we will have a spirited competition for the starting QB position come August. I am confident that whoever is good enough to win that competition will be just fine in September. He will have Albany and UMASS to settle in and then have UNC and VA Tech to be tested under fire before conference play.

Here are Hoy's JUCO and high school highlighs from Hudl if you are interested.

Rice will win more than three games. I doubt it gets more than six, but definitely more than three. UAB will be respectable for what's really a new program, but I wouldn't expect any big surprises. USM may be a bit of a disappointment. Just my take on things.

At ODU, it is now, and always has been, about the QB. We could go as low as 4 wins, and as high as 9. I think the Vegas odds are pretty spot on.

Returning 20 starters from the year ago may help.
