Raps looking like they could dethrone the Cavs this year. That bench is sweet.

When he doesn't get drafted LaVar will cite racism as the reason

In all seriousness, it's a potential headache for the Lakers because LiAngelo won't be drafted, he'll be an unrestricted free agent, and LaVar might pressure the Lakers to sign him.

I don't think the Lakers are dumb enough to sign a kid who is absolutely not a legit NBA (and maybe not even G League) prospect but I do think you're right that LaVar will likely create a media storm the Lakers will have to navigate.

Kemba Walker sets several records tonight and the main one was becoming the Hornets all time leading scorer, taking that position over Dell Curry. It was nice to see him earn it in a home game.

The Spurs won't win 50 games--or the equivalent-- for the first time in 21 years and for the first time while not tanking since 1993. But they won 49 that year, so they can extend that slightly interrupted streak.

Considering the rift between Pop and Kawhi, the Spurs will be lucky to get to the second round this playoffs

Spurs lose. No one, not even the Jazz, is safe from the 4 spot down. Never seen anything like it this late in the season.

RE: 2017-18 NBA thread:
If the Spurs or Pelicans miss the playoffs, will it mark the first time ever an entire division made the playoffs in North American pro sports? The entire Northwest Division can. I don't feel like looking it up. I know in the NFL, in the Super Bowl era, it was only possible from 1990-94 because the AFC Central and NFC West only had 4 teams, which all could have made the playoffs. And I mean in the modern era of the NHL, which I know admittedly the least about among the Big 4 by a mile, not just when the Original Six were around. It's obviously never been possible in MLB and only been possible for part of the 80's and since 2005 in the NBA.

I swear the Knicks are pound for pound the worst franchise in NBA history, their win tonight notwithstanding.

They have some competition with the Bucks.

Pound-for-pound...they're billed as this great organization because they play in MSG but in 70 years have done squat. The Hawks are an offender but have never been thought of as highly.

RE: 2017-18 NBA thread:
The Knicks at least have ancient history of success. That's more than you can say for the Clippers, Hornets, and Grizzlies. The Hornets have never won a division title and never appeared in the conference finals -- only franchise with both of those "distinctions".

Pelicans and Clippers have also never played in the conference finals, and Wizards/Bullets last played in the conference finals in 1979. Every franchise other than those four has been in at least one conference finals in the 2000-2017 period.

The Hornets did until they switched history with the Pelicans. And they've only been around 30 years. Finally, they, nor the Pelicans never get hyped like the Knicks have over the decades. You'd think the Knicks were the Yankees when they more or less have the history of the Mets.

It's why I say, pound-for-pound, not overall, the Knicks are the worst franchise in NBA history, even if the Clippers are close.

The Knicks are the most overrated, but if you exclude the franchises that are less than 30 years old, the Clippers are the worst.

Lots of "New York" teams and athletes are overrated, though. If you consumed nothing but New York sports media you'd think every baseball player who played more than one year on the Yankees should be in the Hall of Fame.

I should know this but, when the Hornets moved from Charlotte to NO they kept all the franchise records through that point in time. Then the Bobcats came into existence in Charlotte. No the "old" Hornets are the Pelicans and the "new" Hornets were formally the Bobcats. Is Charlotte keeping franchise records from the Charlotte only time frame of the original Hornets or up until the the name changing happened?

Only really have the Yankees been super successful. Knicks, Rangers, Mets, Islanders, Giants, Bills, Sabres have all at times had some success. I'd say the Giants probably more so than the others though.... If the Bills had of gotten 2 or more of those 4 Super Bowls back to back then one could argue the Bills being on top.
