Temple and USF need to build State of the art 50000 person stadiums on campus. USF could have an awesome stadium with tons of luxury seating to sell to people in the Tampa area same goes for Temple.

RE: Temple Football Recruiting
I searched the Rivals database for 2018 recruits who have been offered by any P5 school. Here are the totals from that list who have committed to American schools:

SMU = 8 (of 15 total commits)
Houston = 8 of 18
Cincy = 5 of 8
Memphis = 5 of 8
Temple = 5 of 13
USF = 3 of 5
ECU = 3 of 15
UConn = 2 of 5
UCF = 2 of 7
Navy = 2 of 22
Tulane = 1 of 3
Tulsa = 0 of 3

Conference is off to a good start. I'm guessing half the league signs 10+ with at least one P5 offer.

RE: Temple Football Recruiting
At Texas, Charlie Strong didn't get a lot of early commits. He did very well in January, however.

He seems to be following the same pattern at USF re: limited early commits.

I wonder what effect the early signing period will have for coaches who have historically waited to fill a bunch of spots in January.

I agree with this especially for USF if they want to be considered for P5 inclusion in the next round of alignment. UCF with their own OCS appears to be in better shape for a look at a Florida school rather than a school who only rents space in the Tampa Buc's Stadium. I believe UCF would only have to add around 5,000 seats to get to 50k to look good to P5 conferences looking to expand. I know the Buc's stadium is a nice venue, convenient, and cheap for USF at this point but staying there will not help their case for potential P5 inclusion down the road. P5 conferences want to see university investment in the sports facilities on campus or as close the campus as possible on property they own (my opinion).

As for Temple I don't think they can get a 50k stadium on the land designated where they currently intent to build their OCS. That's one of the reason's they are only going 30k "IF" and when they build their new stadium. Besides there is not enough parking space near that building lot space for 30k let alone 50k attending a game at that location. Parking is probably one of the hold ups on their new stadium besides student, neighborhood, and political dissention. Plus if they are waiting for 15 - 18k season pass holders to sign up before building it as a Temple Alum / Fan stated above, then they are staying at the LINC for a very long time, especially with this current administration. The ball has been dropped since the last president was forced out and now you don't hear a thing about anything being done on the stadium project. I really hope Temple can complete the 30K OCS soon though, as the renderings shown on line look very nice and I think the Eagles owner (Laurie) is really sticking it to them with current negotiations to try and drive the Owls out of the LINC where he never wanted them in the first place. I think he still has a bad taste in his mouth after Rendell, and the State and Local governments forced the Temple rental issue on him when the LINC was build with city, state, and federal funds. He never wanted Temple in the stadium with the Eagles to begin with. 07-coffee3 04-cheers

That's what we would like to know. At least give us a real live progress report that shows that something positive is being done. 04-jawdrop 07-coffee3 04-cheers

lol he's a former Temple QB who is Temple's director of quality control for offense and recruiting. He was previously the director of player development.

No idea the timeframe on a new president here. I'm not sure of an exact timeframe for a stadium announcement, but it seems like there's some momentum. Hopefully something is announced in the next year.

I saw that Cincy picked up a couple of nice DB recruits yesterday too. The talent level in this conference only going to get better!

Trad Beatty from Ben Lippen is the real deal. The only issue with him is he hasn't played a ton of talent in SCACS. I wouldn't be shocked for him to be a really productive player for y'all but he will need a couple of years.

Sounds more realistic than what other Temple Fans / Alumni have quoted on this thread as I have never read or heard that the ticket requirement is in place unless it was put in place after the previous president who supported the project was fired. However I'll respect the replies of other posters since I have no other information on the subject. The long and the short of this is that Temple will be at the LINC through the negotiated extension and probably past that extension through at least another extension as the project appears to be on hold for now or at least tied up by local politicians for the for seeable future. I like attending Temple and Eagle games at the LINC anyway - easy access from 95, great tailgating facilities in the parking lots, and amenities such as beer during the game in the stadium make the game day experience great. Eating in the Verizon Center after the game also adds to the great game day experience too. Good luck on the new stadium in the mean time I'm satisfied at the LINC. 07-coffee3 04-cheers

Seriously. I think general attendance is much more of a 'concern' than pure season ticket numbers. I think we're trending upward there too.

My numbers are arbitrary. No official has stated any such thing, but let's be real here, if a 6-6 Temple team cannot support 18K committed season ticket attendees, the stadium will never pay for itself. Look at some of the numbers other schools have to pay yearly to keep up financing payments for new stadiums. Jeffrey's $3 million a year looks reasonable by comparison.

I agree that 22K in a 69K seat stadium looks horrid, but an ECU level fan base would change perceptions of the LINC in my humble opinion.

simply not realistic. I don't think many outside of ECU in this conference can legitimately say they have 18K season ticket holders every year. I know UCF can't. I'd be interested to see who has 18K season ticket holders on average over the last 10 years in this league? ECU and???

While I agree that it's hard an outside of ECU doubt anyone comes close to that consistently. I do believe our schools are large enough and in large enough markets that 18k season tickets should be a goal. Problem is that by many being in large markets it's very easy for fans to not show up for games or drop out if teams struggle.

But 18k season tickets should be ALL our goals to shoot for.

definitely should be a goal and I know USF, UCF, and a couple others are close. But I think Temple fan has a really unrealistic outlook on college football and fan support for AAC level teams, even ones with usually good attendance in the league.

RE: Temple Football Recruiting
Adam Dimichele is a 31 year old former quarterback currently on Temple's football staff. He's a nice guy, hard worker and had a decent career @ Temple. Unfortunately, he's about a 100 million short of a 100 million dollars and his opinion about Temple's FB Stadium is worthless. He may or may not want it as bad as some of Temple's fans, some of whom consistently post totally erroneous information here.

The feasibility study was conducted over a year ago and found the grounds are too small, privately owned homes would have to be purchased and bulldozed, a major east/west city thoroughfare would have to be closed in addition to a minor north /south thoroughfare already being hotly debated, traffic patterns and present parking facilities would not accommodate 25,000 people flooding into the area and Temple didn't have the money to remedy any of it.

Its not happening and readers discussing it would be better served talking about an inhabited space station on Mars. That's closer to being realized than a Temple OC FB Stadium suitable for FBS play.

SMU = 8 (of 15 total commits)
Houston = 8 of 18
Cincy = 5 of 8
Memphis = 5 of 8
Temple = 5 of 13
USF = 3 of 5
ECU = 3 of 15
UConn = 2 of 5
UCF = 2 of 7
Navy = 2 of 22
Tulane = 1 of 3
Tulsa = 0 of 3

Conference is off to a good start. I'm guessing half the league signs 10+ with at least one P5 offer.

ECU. Jadakis Bonds offered by WVU. Offer not listed on Rivals.

Thanks.

Houston picked up a commit last night from one of the top 4-5 QBs in Texas with multiple P5 offers.
