What exactly do you think the issue is here?
A real estate developer buys a building at the top of the market, market crashes, building has been under water ever since. That only happened to every single developer that made big acquisitions in 2007-2008.
Maybe you're concerned he may have talked to the Chinese and/or Russians about investing? Well, along with the Saudis, those two countries are the largest foreign investors in U.S. Real estate. The Chinese own more of Manhatten than Americans do. Who else would you talk to if you were looking for an outside investor?
