RE: An Analysis of TV OTT Platforms
NBC is threatening to remove its channels from YouTubeTV unless YTTV agrees to pay more for NBC channels than cable pays and also agrees to bundle Peacock with YTTV.
NBC gets super aggressive in YouTube TV dispute
Quote:NBC is one of several NBCUniversal channels running prominent banner ads on YouTube TV streams, warning customers that they could lose access over a carriage dispute with Google. The banner lists over a dozen channels that could disappear if a deal isn’t reached by Wednesday, September 30th, and directs customers to an NBCU-owned website offering various ways to pressure Google. These include a pre-written tweet directed at YouTube TV, links to Google’s customer support, and a tool to find alternative providers.
Quote:Variety reports that there are several points of contention in the ongoing negotiations. NBCU is reportedly asking for higher rates for its channels than Google is willing to pay, and wants YouTube TV to bundle NBC’s Peacock video streaming service.

RE: An Analysis of TV OTT Platforms
If this actually happens, it would be great news for cord-cutting sports fans.

Quote:Major League Baseball is in talks to launch a nationwide video-streaming service that would enable fans to watch their teams’ hometown games without a cable-TV subscription, The Post has learned.
The web-based service — which could address a decades-old annoyance for baseball fans that some have partly blamed for the league’s steadily declining viewership — could launch as early as the 2023 season, a person with direct knowledge of the negotiations said.
The National Basketball Association and the National Hockey League are also considering partnering with MLB on the new streaming service, sources said. Insiders say subscription rates would vary by geographic market and could be between $10 and $20 a month — well below the monthly cost of most cable-TV packages, which can easily stretch past $100.

I’m surprised they didn’t do this sooner. I guess they were still to tied in with the regional networks on cable.

Was hoping to watch some bowl games today. Any workarounds that don't involve sketchy websites?

That’s probably the best way to go for now. Do a 7 day trial on one of those, then cancel and do a 7 day trial on another.
