RE: An Analysis of TV OTT Platforms
Fubo announced last night that the ESPN networks are coming on August and that the Turner networks are currently in dispute. Their price point will also be $65/month beginning in August

Did Fubo end up dropping TBS/TNT and other AT&T/Warner channels? That would be a deal-breaker for anyone who wants their MLB, NBA, and March Madness game broadcasts.

Yep.

If you like NBA FUBO will be a tough sell as there is no Turner which has season long exclusive games, playoffs, and only NBC/MSG/AT&T SW RSNs (9 of the 30 teams).

If you like MLB you could probably get by with Fubo until the playoffs as the Turner games are not exclusive. However Fubo only carries the RSN for 7 of 30 teams.

If you only like college sports Fubo will be fine until March then you will need to switch for 1 month

This doesn't have sports, and is a very slim picking list, but there is Family Friendly OTT platform called frndly that some folks might be interested in. Only 15 channels, and it's $6/month.

RE: An Analysis of TV OTT Platforms
Per this announcement, Sinclair's Fox-branded RSNs will disappear from YouTube TV on Thursday, October 1.

Quote:YouTube TV
@YouTubeTV

To bring you 85+ channels, we periodically renegotiate contracts with content owners. In February, we announced we had negotiated an extension with Sinclair to continue providing FOX Regional Sports Networks (RSNs) through the end of MLB, NHL and NBA seasons.

@YouTubeTV

Now that the seasons are over, that extension is expiring. Starting October 1, 2020, FOX RSNs will no longer be available on YouTube TV. Members that are impacted will no longer have access to Library recordings from the FOX RSNs.

@YouTubeTV

This was a difficult decision made after months of negotiations. We hope we can bring FOX RSNs back in the future. We thank you for your membership as we work to make YouTube TV the best streaming experience. You will receive an email today if you are impacted by this change.

RE: An Analysis of TV OTT Platforms
It amazes me how much the prices have gone up on these OTT packages since we first started tracking.

2017
FUBO TV $35
YouTube TV $35
Hulu $40
Sling (Blue+Orange) $45

2020
Hulu $55
Sling (Blue+Orange) $60
FUBO TV $60
YouTube TV $65

YouTube has almost doubled in price within just 3 years.

If you are a fight sports fan then you'll have to pay in addition to that ESPN+ $4.17 (month/year sub), DAZN $8.25 (month/year sub), Showtime $8.25 (month/year sub). That is another $20.67 for OTT not counting PPV buys.

I can set up my smartphone to get the results and then go back and watch it on demand when I have time. I did that with Cormier vs. Miocic III instead of pay for the PPV. Archived fights have value in a way that archived team sports don't. With team sports the score and the stat line basically tell you everything.

RE: An Analysis of TV OTT Platforms
If you want the Sinclair owned FSN RSNs you will need Hulu Live TV or ATT TV Now $80 package. Fortunately outside of the ACC and Stadium RSN packages and a handful of MLS teams, there isn't much on the RSNs right now

Hulu cutting the RSNs

Updates On Your Regional Sports Network(s)
Hi Mark,

Starting on October 23, 2020 Hulu will no longer have the rights to distribute certain Regional Sports Networks (RSNs) that are currently included with your Hulu + Live TV plan.

While we were unable to reach an agreement with Sinclair Broadcast Group to continue offering channels like your Fox Sports RSN, YES Network, and Marquee Network, the good news is that you will continue to have access to a wide variety of sports from other popular channels including ESPN, TNT, and TBS, as well as FS1 and FS2.

Check out the Hulu Help Center for the full list of RSNs impacted by this news more information about what’s included in your Live TV plan or how to make changes to your subscription.

Thanks for watching,

The Hulu Team

It will be interesting to see if these RSNs get picked back up once NBA/NHL seasons start.

If you want sports channels other than ESPN/ESPN2/FS1, AT&T Now (formerly called DirecTV Now) charges much more than their advertised base price. Two or three times as much as the base price in most cases.

I used to before they revamped and jacked the price up.

You are forced to subscribe to HBO and Cinemax in their $80 package which helps justify the price.

Service is fine but unless you really wanna stream the RSNs or want to bundle HBO/Cinemax with your streaming service you can get better value elsewhere
