This is going to be something interesting that could change online streaming. Viacom that owns Nick, Comedy Central, MTV, Paramount, CBS, Desilu Production, Star Trek and all that will still have ad supported content, maybe some of it under pay content could force Netflix and them to offer ad supported free movies and tv shows. We may see more online college sports like C-USA, MWC, FCS and other levels under ad support. Big Sky Conference Network gets a share of the ad revenues like the other channels. This might work than ESPN+ and them. They could be losing Warner Brothers content that AT&T bought them out.
That was in January.

Pluto TV An Access To CBS All Access
Quote:“Now that we can bring them together, we can bring people in through the free service and some will only stay in free. Others we will have the opportunity to upsell them to the pay product. We can return them to the free eco-system if they decide to pause and re-market to them when their situation changes. We think that is a powerful idea,” said Viacom’s CEO Bob Bakish at the Goldman Sachs’ Communacopia Investor Conference earlier this year.
It sounds like Pluto TV is going to be utilized by driving paid subscribers to CBS All Access. It makes sense that Viacom CBS would put a taste of early seasons of popular shows for viewers to watch for free on Pluto TV, then require a CBS All Access subscription if you want to watch more.
Viacom has already been using Pluto TV to try and get viewers to see new Viacom movies. Recently a 24/7 Dora the Explorer channel launched in time to promote the new Dora the Explorer movie. Viacom is also using Pluto TV to promote the new James Bond movie launching next year with a 24/7 007 channel. The question now is now that the merger is complete how long will it be until this vision of CBS content on Pluto TV becomes a reality.
The good news is if you enjoy Pluto TV it’s not going anywhere. The only question now is what CBS content will be coming to the free streaming services. We will have to wait and see.
It would be a portal to access the All Access portion keeping Pluto TV as free with ads, and adding channels to promote their new shows and movies. Might see all the Star Trek and I Love Lucy tv shows as a stand alone channels. Might see some older seasons of Star Trek:Discovery and the others. This is more than what Disney Plus would give. This could be a game changer to attract costumers to watch free shows and movies and On Demand stuff would be the CBS All Access with the newer stuff. It could be interesting that CBS Sports could be put on Pluto TV for ad supporting content since they now own Pluto. This could be great news for the MWC to get a better tv package from CBS/Pluto TV. College sports fans who can't afford ESPN Plus might like the Pluto TV with the Big Sky Network which they could do the same with other conferences and the top D2 games. This would bring back D2 football game of the week on the CBS brand under Pluto.

Great. But again, you linked an article from 11 months ago. Not sure of the relevance. They've done some great things thus far, but you are talking about an old article.

The second link I posted is from the 5th of this month and not 11 months old. It explains what Viacom/CBS/Pluto TV would be doing.

Here is an interesting tidbit of info. The info in this article includes OTT platforms Sling and ATT Now.
The takeaway from this is that the cutters aren’t going swarming to the OTT services. They are only OTA.
ESPN households keeps dropping.
With the estimated 120.6 million TV households. OTA only households has grown to 35.6 million households and growing each quarter. It’s a boon for a lot of OTA networks including a sports network called Stadium.

I think its hilarious that technology uses at the advent of televison is becoming popular once again.
I showed some college guys at my church how they could host a super bowl party for youth in their small group at their house thanks to an antenna.
They fell in love with the "free satellite antenna" and used it on a regular basis

If you're a college sports fan, Vidgo at $40/month is a great value. You get all the ESPNs and FS1/2 plus all the college sports networks and local ABC and Fox. The biggest thing missing is CBS Sports Network but considering you get virtually everything else that carries college sports its not a bad trade off. The next bet would be YouTube TV for $50/month. You gain CBS and NBC plus their sports networks but you lose PAC 12 Network

Although this is a satellite service, this is a non sports package for $40. Includes 4 receivers and taxes in the price.
OTA antenna is included with the satellite receiver and is installed under the satellite receiver outside the home.
Quite an interesting setup and debated whether or not to include this in the non-sports section in the OP.
I leave it up to you guys if I should.

A couple of non insignificant updates:
First, YouTubeTV is dropping the Sinclair regional sports networks, which is frustrating going into the end of the NBA season and the beginning of baseball season.
https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/youtube-...-networks/
Second, AT&T Now has enhanced their service offerings with allowing up to three streaming devices and up to 500 hours of Cloud DVR storage (up to 90 days). Their packages are still high ($65 and $80) but include HBO.

Looks like Fox had the leverage with TV providers to get the price they wanted for the RSNs, but Sinclair does not have that kind of leverage.

YouTube and Sinclair have reached a new deal for all Fox Sports Nets other than YES, Fox Sports Prime Ticket and Fox Sports West.

But only in select markets. So check your zip code, so you signup with a zipcode that covers your team. They aren't using DMA or team footprints.
Completely random in Columbus Ohio you get Fox Sports Ohio or Sports Time Ohio, not both even though one gets NHL Blue Jackets and the other MLS Crew.
