RE: Nice Picture of Cameron Reedus
Little Rock signee Camron Reedus has been named a National Junior College Athletic Association All-American. A Third Team selection, Reedus starred at Three Rivers Community College where he averaged 19.6 points as a sophomore in 2016-17.
"Little Rock is getting a tough kid who can really score the ball," Three Rivers assistant coach Bryan Sherrer said. "He can really shoot it. He will be one of those tough guys that can both defend and score."
Reedus, who was also an All-Region XVI First Team honoree, shot 42.1 percent from the floor while doing the majority of his scoring from the perimeter. Playing for head coach Gene Bass, he shot 39.7 percent from 3-point range and ranked seventh nationally with 110 made treys on the year. Reedus made multiple 3-pointers in 30 games for Three Rivers, connecting on a season-high six 3s in six different games.
A 6-3 guard, Reedus scored in double figures in 30 of 32 games on the season, including 20 or more in 17 games. Against Pensacola State on Dec. 30, he scored a season-high 31 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the floor and a 5-of-10 effort from the 3-point line.
Reedus closed the season by scoring at least 24 points in five of the final seven games.
"He has a really good mid-range game," Sherrer said. "A lot of guys try to crowd him because he shoots it so well, but he has one of those strong builds that allows him to get into a defender's body and get to the foul line. That's what makes him such a good scorer."
Reedus shot 77.5 percent from the foul line and ranked 20th nationally with 148 made free throws on the year. The Decatur, Ala., native averaged 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
As a freshman in 2015-16, Reedus averaged 17.8 points while shooting 43.6 percent from the floor and 39.3 percent from 3-point range. He scored in double figures in 28 of 31 games and ranked 12th nationally with 99 made 3-pointers.
