Lamar
Youngstown State
James Madison
Jacksonville State
Eastern Kentucky

It is schools who are willing to spend money at the top.

Do you ever stop talking?

You called us a commuter school.

Hey look dude. In 8 years we have gone from not owning a football to FBS, a bowl game and a badass stadium. I will take it. I think we are doing great.

Even if things have changed, Georgia State is still traditionally a commuter school. You could start winning national titles and there would still be only so many fans you could gain because the market is saturated
Cool. When did you move into Atlanta?

This debate is pointless if you're gonna be biased. I know for a fact that GSU is no better than a distant fourth when it comes to football teams people root for. Why would I need to live in Atlanta to know that? I spent one weekend there and still know that. And that's just assuming no other SEC or ACC teams have made an inroads there, which is a major assumption.

I doubt that the Georgia State administration is concerned with passing the Falcons, Yellow Jackets or Bulldogs in support.

I suspect they liked the outcome when they advanced to the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament and had no complaints about football playing in a bowl.

They developed some brand awareness and they can run a pretty viable football program simply by drawing 0.5% of the local population.
Figure they also hope that some number of students will attend games and convert into more loyal alums.

That was pretty much my point anyways and he laughed it off earlier in the thread.

So UH is a distant to third...seems like a similar boat

Actually someone was talking about our chances of staying FBS B's Idaho and you responded that without the Ted we had no shot.

I laughed.

Our viability in FBS has not been in n question.

Yeah....that's a pretty big generalization and I'd go as far to say just straight up not true. Idaho started off in FBS playing in Martin Stadium to meet attendance requirements. It's been known from the get-go that the capacity wasn't large enough to host bigger name schools and it's been clear for more than a decade now that facilities are one of the main things holding Idaho back. There have been talks forever about getting the Dome expanded and there was a plan in place at one point. Just didn't fall through due to several factors. Instead of expansion our AD shrunk capacity but at least managed to make the Dome look a lot better in the process.

Yes, without the Ted, you'd be in trouble. You'd only still be FBS because they don't have the stones to force anyone down.

Now you guys look like a more legit program, so kudos to you. Why do people get so bent out of shape over minor, but more importantly, realistic criticism?

They might be distant 5th since Georgia Southern already have a niche in Georgia for their football team. Georgia Southern was a former FCS champs that Georgia State can not claimed in football.
