RE: Athlon C-USA Preview
Lord, that would be a blessing. But until it happens, I am not counting my eggs. I just want 8 wins and a bowl game. Anything past that is lagniappe.

RE: Athlon C-USA Preview
I would take that matchup...the outcome would be different.
For for a 3 peat on a cold day with a half empty stadium. Well if uk doesn't have a basketball game and it's 60 degrees and sunny 1/3 empty. For Western to get out of the East...probably have to win the heads up with Tech this year. So it will be played at Western.

If the Toppers lose to Illinois they won't win 6 conference games, they are projected the worst team in the Big10.

I think Athlon had done no better job than 50% (or more) of the posters here could. They got FAU judged about right, but this was a no-brainer.

RE: Athlon C-USA Preview
Its just pick whatever teams were good last year............
LT has the best projected defensive lineman in the conference, but I have a hard time believing ODU doesn't have the best DL overall. It is at least 8 deep and all but 1 player is back on a DL that was rated among the best in creating havoc last year. They even have talented redshirt freshman that have almost no chance of seeing significant minutes because the unit is so deep.
Signletary is good, but what is the justification for FAU over ODU at the RB spot? It's like they take Lawry for granted.
I don 't really have a strong opinion on the position rankings other than that, but those 2 spots really stuck out to me.

RE: Athlon C-USA Preview
So Louisiana Tech is far and away the best team in the West but they're only expected to win the division by one game over Southern Miss and UTSA?
I mean, it'd not inconceivable that both can be true, it's just an odd thing to predict.

Actually, I saw a statistical analysis of all the magazines from top to bottom in terms of accuracy. I always bought Sporting News because I thought it was the most comprehensive and accurate. I was wrong.
Athlon was the most accurate, followed by Phil Steele... Sporting News was about fifth.

Lol create havoc, A team doenst get completely demolished by mid rank teams and have a d-line that creates havoc.
QB pressure was one of the reasons Tech beat WKU, and it was nonexistent in the WKU route of ODU.

RE: Athlon C-USA Preview
I really shouldn't respond to this guy, but the 3 games ODU got "demolished" by were App State, NC State, and WKY....all pretty good teams. In those games, ODU had 4 sacks and 14 tackles for losses. They were also 31st in adjusted sack rate. If you want to check on how LTs defense did against Western Kentucky, have at it.
Great Shape
1. Old Dominion: Defensive ends Oshane Ximines and Bunmi Rotimi are the faces of an ODU D-line that ranked 20th in DL Havoc Rate (an advanced stat that measures how disruptive defenses are via tackles for loss, forced fumbles, or tipped passes) in 2016. Behind them are juniors Tim Ward and Daniel Appouh, who racked up a combined 11 TFLs and seven sacks. Suffice to say, ODU is loaded here.
Ignorance is bliss

RE: Athlon C-USA Preview
I remember the havoc...it was WKU QB having all day to pick apart ODU defense and scoring at will
I cant remember such a dominating blow out in a conference game, they beat ODU like Alabama would beat an FCS school.
BTW those sacks and tackles came in the 2nd half when WKU was up 52-7 against their 2nd and 3rd string

The problem with trying to respond to you is that you post false information. You just make stuff up.
BTW, LT gave up 113 points to Western Kentucky. They scored on your defense like Alabama would score on an FCS school (well, not really, Bama may not score 110 in 2 games).
I really don't expect you to have the insight to consider how the offense put ODUs defense in bad spots as well. But, you will probably just make up some more things. BOL to the LT this year. Wish we could play again, last time was really fun.

RE: Athlon C-USA Preview
The DL projection is also based on the 1st round pick potential Jaylon Ferguson, not saying he will be drafted in the first round as Junior but he will probably leave this year and be at least a 3rd round lock. Vernon Butler was drafted in the first round also so the prediction is partly based on the NFL talent Tech has had at D-Line.

We just need the D to score like the old days and to run the ball a lot.

They scored on everybody like that. We beat them once which is way more than everybody else.
