Absolutely well deserved, but she was humble in her acceptance thanking her team and Coach Deane, what a great athlete we get to watch ONE MORE YEAR!

RE: Megan Good & Deserved Recognition
Interesting quotes from this morning's DNR

Quote:Good said JMU was the only Division I school to recruit her for softball and the only opportunities elsewhere she had to play the sport was at Division III Bridgewater College and Eastern Mennonite University.

“I was recruited more for volleyball,” Good said. “But I just happen to go to a camp at Turner Ashby. Coach Dean was there and that’s where it all started.”

I believe she was an all american as a Freshman....

Much credit deserved to Mickey for helping her develope so quickly.

I don't know this, but I'll bet Jaylyn probably assisted her early on as well.

Speaking of Ford. Most Rookie wins since 2009. Not a bad start to her professional career.

Is ford good enough to be an Olympic player for USA softball? Certainly Megan good has a chance. With cj sapong gaining some traction with the national team any chance we see any or all of these rep JMU and the USA?

Megan was also very good in a third sport - Basketball. I had her on my recruiting watch list when she was a sophomore. Early in her junior year I was at a game and lamented to someone that I was disappointed in that she had not shown improvement from the previous year. That was when I was told she was really a Volleyball player and that she didn't focus on basketball. I took her off my list. I am not sure anyone even mentioned softball. I am sure when Mickey saw her play softball, It was staring him in the face and he knew.

There are a lot of talented multi-sport players on the High School teams. I am sure it is a challenge to figure out which sport to really focus on. Roadcap was a very good point guard on the Turner Ashby basketball team. I took her off my recruiting list when I saw Mickey Dean at her basketball games. And I might as well add the Repko kid from Broadway who was the point guard on this years State Championship team. She came out so early for Elon softball, I never bothered listing her, but I shook my head often when I watched how good she was in basketball, I hope she does not haunt us when we play Elon.
