I just saw that Scott drew the crappiest possible lane (1).

400 is going on now. Scott was in the first (of 3) flights(? I know they're not heats) and ran 48.35 (5th in his flight) for 892 more points. The first flight was faster than the second one, with only two runners in the second flight running sub-49.

Scott runs 48.35 for 892 points.

I think that the rules should be changed to have 4 sections of 6, utilizing lanes 3-8. It is such a huge disadvantage to be stuck in lane 1.

Another slower group with no one under 49. Placings coming up soon.

Scott was 5th in the 400 overall (and in his section). He now sits at 7th overall going into Day 2.

When it's a running event against time, they're called "sections." If they are used to determine finalists, they're called "heats." If they are used to determine who advances (but not to finals), they're called "heats" for round 1 or 2, etc. "Flights" are for field events.

Scott has one more throw in the Discus. So far, 36.97 meters (121' 3").

Foul on 3rd attempt. Just 603 points for the discus.

In the discus, Filip was 10th in the first 12-man section with a best throw of 36.97m (121-3), worth 603 points. (His second throw was 36.71; he fouled on his third attempt.)

His best throw at the C-USA event was 37.95m/(623) and at the Texas Relays, 39.63m/(657)

Flight 2 is warming up. After they conclude, we'll move to a critical event for Scott - the pole vault. He can make up some ground with a good result.

Just a reminder - the Decathlon pole vault lasts forever. I'd give it a minimum of 2 hours.

Updated to include "total score through x events" in brackets.

He's one point off his C-USA pace and 62 points off his Texas Relays pace.

It looks like the first section of the pole vault is already "in progress" (but no jumps recorded yet) before the second section of the discus throw is completed.

Filip clears 4.31m (14-1¾; worth 705 points) on his first attempt.

Yay!! No "no height" today.

Usually 30 minute warm-up. That was included in my conservative estimate.

Thanks!

Eleven 2nd-section discus throwers still have 3rd throws left.
