Couldn't the same be said for A&M & the SEC?

Kind of but being P5 is different. They have a pretty good thing going with LSU and Arkansas. Plus everyone loves beating A&M. I mean look at the lists from fans of other teams. TXST isn't the top of anyone and not really in the top 3. For the most part we are in the bottom half or even the bottom. I get excited to play UL and stAte but it seems no one really cares if they play us.

Real data may show different. Example: 2015 TXST vs. App St attendance was over 28k. That's well above their average of 26k.

We had USM and PV A&M get good crowds. Does that mean they are rivals or they came at a good time of year where people were excited to go to a game no matter who we played? I think App will get a good crowd in SM this year because its early in the season and people may know the name. Then again if this team is as awful as last year, crowds will dry up quick. For the first time in almost 15 years, I am not excited for the season to start. Fran really took it out of me that last season and Withers is trying to pull the team out of a crater.

Depending on how these new divisions work and who faces off in the CCG these could change. Right now GS has 2 rivals that fans love to hate. The next is based on geography and potential. The last grouping has potential depending on how games play out.

Honestly I just want GS to be circled on everyone's calendar because we are the top dog. That's what GS strives to be (and I'm hoping everyone else does too). This season is do or die for the coaching staff. They need redemption for the horrible losses last year. We need to start winning against GSU and App, also, would like to beat stAte and ULL, we upset Troy so they are the ones looking for revenge there, and then there are the other games that have potential. I even look forward to TxSt due to the FCS playoff debacle. With Idaho and NMSU out, there is a lot of potential for rivals to grow.

Don't know how many of you cyber-stalk recruiting like I do, but thought a Jag fan or two might remember this guy? Coastal Carolina just took on a JUCO QB named Kilton Anderson. Found the kid was originally signed with USA a couple years back, all the way up to a few days before signing day when he flipped to Fresno St. Seems he got some time there, then injured, went to JUCO, now coming to CCU.

If nothing else, one more straw (albeit little one) on the rivalry pile... Lol.

He was a long time USA commit and flipped at the last minute when he thought he found a better opportunity. In digging around it looks like he went to Fresno State and redshirted in 2014 and ended up on a 3-9 team in 2015. Their 3 wins were over Abilene Christian, Hawaii, and UNLV - only one of which he attempted a pass. He had shoulder surgery and left Fresno for JUCO and now is going to CCU. Hmm.

I don't hate we missed on him. We have done ok without him. I hate we missed on App's Taylor Lamb. 03-drunk

Anderson was a great athlete in HS with a big arm, but his coach (at a very successful program in Florida) ran the option a lot and so Anderson's family packed up and moved to Seattle, in large part to get him in another power program that threw the ball more. As reported, he flipped very late to Fresno State after they came after him right before Signing Day. I kept track of him there. He didn't have much impact, even thought the QB situation was completely unsettled there during his entire stay.
I had a chance to interact with him a little. I think he's a good kid with some ability. I would bet that he'd make some different choices if he had it all to do over again, but that maturity should help him at CC.

I guess you mean Southern Miss vs. TXST? We didn't play @App State in 2015.

3. Coastal (Based solely on potential, but I don't see any way it doesn't happen)
4. Troy (Incredible, close games the last two years)
5. Ga State (They're right there, with our old AD and a former assistant coach as their HC. Also we inexplicably keep beating them in basketball)

The rest I don't really see any potential for rivalry at all.

I agree with this. Hopefully the internet attitudes will leave if I ever meet some Redwolves down and over yonder. I really want to go revisit Little Rock, and Jonesboro is only 1 hr 45 from where I would likely stay. The internet rivalry is pretty fun, though. 04-cheers

Gotcha I just saw the year 2015 and figured he got the wrong team since they have similar colors and we didn't even play App that year. Didn't dawn on me that he was referring to our game there last year.

I don't mean to disparage Texas State here, but that 28K number was due to it being Family Weekend and right in the midst's of leaf season. We get a bump every year on Family Weekend but honestly the only conference opponent we usually get a bump for is Southern. May change with Coastal coming into the conference and bringing more fans than other schools. They brought a good amount last time they came here IIRC.

It's cool bro. We understand. We don't get a bump from anyone in conference either, maybe y'all will be the exception though...
