No students at 6 Baltimore City schools proficient in math or science
http://foxbaltimore.com/news/project-bal...tate-tests

Quote:A Project Baltimore investigation has found five Baltimore City high schools and one middle school do not have a single student proficient in the state tested subjects of math and English.

Quote:Project Baltimore found Frederick Douglass is not alone. Four other city high schools and one middle school also have zero students proficient.

The schools are:

Booker T. Washington Middle School
Frederick Douglass High School
Achievement Academy at Harbor City
New Era Academy
Excel Academy at Francis M. Wood High
New Hope Academy

High school students are tested by the state in math and English. Their scores place them in one of five categories – a four or five is considered proficient and one through three are not. At Frederick Douglass, 185 students took the state math test last year and 89 percent fell into the lowest level. Just one student approached expectations and scored a three.

Their answer will be to throw more money at the problem.

Why would they want to change anything? They are doing their job of turning out a generation of Democrat voters. Pay raises all around!

Public service announcement: Baltimore spends $15,287 per student, the third highest of a city in the United States. There are 225 private schools in Baltimore County. The average private school tuition is $8,741 for elementary schools and $16,893 for high schools..

Those prices are outrageous. Thats basically $300K to $400K per teacher, where they only work 9 months out of the year. Its a no wonder they are scared sh*tless of charter schools and vouchers.

Elizabeth Warren launches 'DeVos Watch' to keep eye on education secretary

Schools are going to hell like these in Baltimore and the libs are doing all they can do to make sure they stay like they are. Good job libs....Your leader Fauxchahontas is going to make sure our new Sec of Education doen't do anything to make these sh#t hole schools any better also. Once again libs, good job...

Quote:The senator, who explained that DeVos Watch will seek answers on behalf of the public, said she would check in with voters "as things develop so we can all stay vigilant."

"We'll raise questions and concerns and when we get reasonable answers everybody will benefit from hearing them. And, when we don't? Everybody's going to see that too," she said in the video. "Because accountability is about making government work for everyone."

The senator's video announcement came in addition to a Wednesday CNN op-ed in which she raised concerns about proposed changes to the student aid program included in President Donald Trump's budget plan, questioned DeVos' leadership and made the case for agency oversight.

Warren, who further discussed her new initiative in the op-ed, added that DeVos Watch will specifically seek information about ED actions surrounding federal student loans and grants through Freedom of Information Act requests, public interest litigation and Inspector General investigations.

Teachers are a factor, but the real problem that is the #1 leading indicator of failing to succeed in school is the exact same indicator for involvement in crime, incarceration, drug use, suicide, teen pregnancy, violence and a whole lot of other social ills...namely not having 2 concerned, involved parents at home.

Mom and dad are not there or do not care, or do not even know how to care since their mom and dad were also not involved (often going back generations) best school system in the world won't do a thing.

+1 - But I had a drawn out argument with someone on the pol/rel board who said tax breaks for married stable couples raising kids is a bad thing.

Oh it's better than that... Have you seen this.

The "panel" was six like minded people who don't have a clue about science, telling us why science is wrong.

"Restart science from an African perspective"

Dateline, May 31st, 3017.

After 1,000 years of research African scientists have confirmed that decolonized gravity is indeed, the same as white gravity.

That's what I don't understand about GOP-controlled states.

My home state of TN for example... my state senator is the chair of the state education committee. The state legislature has such an overwhelming super-majority that they can override a governor veto if they want.

So why do they accept the status-quo for education. Change the curriculum, change the standards, change the programs.

Instead of letting the teacher unions dictate the PC crap in the classroom, why won't the GOP-controlled education committee and legislature put conservative views back into the classroom?

The obvious answer is that they're perfectly content with the job the schools are doing.

And that's disturbing.
