Maybe it's been thought of but just to throw it out there, I'd check the archives of the opponents and the medias that covered them.

I bet the local TV stations have better video.

When he wrote, "little viewable film remain" I figured he was referring to our local media, which is why I suggested trying the media that covered the teams UT played. Maybe they kept a recording of their films or somehow recorded their broadcasts.

Back then it was B&W 8 mm film...poor lighting (still a problem, I know) and I am guessing that even the local media might not have great quality from those days. All of the film was taken above the old press box and that was another hurdle to overcome. Be worth pursuing because of the teams and what they accomplished.

The old First National Bank(now part of JP Morgan Chase) had color copies of the Rocket Tangerine Bowls. to loan to community groups free of charge. Also, I wondered if those game broadcast on the old Mizlou Sports Network are archived anywhere?

I have a VHS tape called History of UT Football that came out in 1992. I think it's about 2 hours long and quite a bit in color. Haven't watched it in a long time. Believe it or not, I still have a combo DVD/VHS player somewhere.

Had three of those combo TVs in our new house when we moved in and kept one. I remember getting that VHS for my dad got Christmas one year.

That would be cool to see. Youtube it? Also be interesting to see how a good image processing might improve the watching experience.

There was a documentary PBS made in 2008 titled, Undefeated: The Chuck Ealey Story. I know if was released on DVD at some point, but I don't have that. I have a copy of that on my DVR, but it didn't occur to me to check if it was on-line until now, and sure enough it is.

Great watch if you haven't seen it. Not a huge amount of highlights, but some from a number of different game (so, there must be film somewhere) and even had highlights from his high school days. Highlights include the famous pass at the end of the Villanova game. Interviews with Chuck himself, plus a huge list of UT characters including Lauterbur, Murphy, Mel Long, Jim Grey, Christine Brennan, Lou Holz, Phil Villapiano, and many many more.

Also, a short snippet of Chuck playing in a Toronto Argos game. That run ... wow.

RE: All Century Team
One of the things I thought about doing a long time ago was to collect a bunch of old games and have them converted to digital, get releases from the owners (or have royalties) and sell them on a sports nostalgia site. Games I always wanted to see again that I watched as a kid - UCLA vs. Houston in 1968 in the Astrodome. #1 vs. #2 Elvin Hayes vs. Lew Alcindor; 1968 Rose Bowl - OSU vs. O.J. Simpson; 1968 OSU vs. Michigan, 1964 World Series (first series I ever remember watching); 1968 Olympics (George Foreman, Tommy Smith and John Carlos, 4x400 team, etc.), 1972 Olympics (Dan Gable, Mark Spitz, and the terrorists). Steve Mix and that 1967 Rocket team, The UT vs. BG battles on the court; even some high school games from the Shoe Bowl and the OHSAA tournaments (Libbey, Rossford, Scott)

33. Ryan Huzjak

4th all-time in passing yards (should get passed by Woodside early this year), 4th in TD passes. 2 time all-MAC, 3 time academic all-MAC.

I remember mowing my lawn with frequent stops to listen to the Purdue game-kept waiting for the inevitable collapse that never came. Huzjak played bigly!

Funny how you remember these things. I went up to Canada to a Tunnel BBQ restaurant in Windsor for our 5th wedding anniversary and we sat in the parking lot listening to the end of that game on the radio before going in. Was expecting we would end up losing and I was resigned to having a very close game that we were competitive in but couldn't pull out in the end - until we did...

EDIT: I kept thinking about this post and just saw it again and had to do some fact checking. The game I am remembering was in 1992 and Kevin Meger was the QB. I just couldn't place Huzjak in a game against Purdue, so I looked it up. It was Meger's senior season when they beat Purdue in West Lafeyette by a 33-29 score.

And, like the QB montage posted earlier, here one on the RBs.

I don't think I have ever seen film of Cole before. That was cool. Nice that UT is making use of some of that old film. Wish they would do more with it.

It would look good on the video board pre-game, both facing in and outside the stadium.

That was fun. Excited to see how Swanson does this year. I thought he showed significant improvement last year.

He is a more elusive runner than Hunt but does not have the power and is probably a little bit slower than Hunt when Hunt was in top shape. If he can pick up his overall speed and finish those long runs, he will be 1st team all-MAC this season. I would still take a guy like him that consistently picks up good yardage over a guy that can break a few long runs each year, but is also prone to losing yardage or not getting any yards - and averages 6 ypc overall. That stat can be very misleading.
