Last I heard we were rpi 47.
If we beat USM then that improves notably and I think we're a solid 3 seed. Lose to USM and I still think we have an outside shot for 3 or 4 seed at large with top 50 RPI. If we beat Charlotte then I still think we're a 3 seed but less solidly so. Lose to Charlotte and we're out.

Where? I haven't looked at the projections much but if Texas Tech is having a good year then I'd lobby for us to play in Lubbock. But only selfishly so as I'll be in the neighborhood...

UH is still a potential host. Would love to knock them out again.

My guess would be #3 seed at either Lubbock, Ft. Worth or LSU. I'm roadtripping whereever they send us, pending tomorrow's victory. 03-cloud9

A Rice fan at today's game (not sure who) mentioned that they were surprised you weren't not in Biloxi.

It is unusual for me not to be down there, BUT...I spent all of last week in the NY area cleaning out and closing our family home since 1960, and didn't get back to Chicago 'til Monday eve. Just too quick a turnaround. Thanksfully, I was able to watch the action on ESPN3. I'll definitely be roadtripping, as usual, if we make the post-season.

Now we can really talk seriously.

UH won today. Will they host?

Sam Houston State's looking for somewhere to play. Will they and Rice be in the same regional?

RE: If we win on Sunday...?
It would be fun if we ended up costing someone like A&M or Miami a bid. I still think UH could be the odd team out but then again, Texas didn't win the Big 12 championship today so perhaps they sneak in as the 16th host. I'm also wondering if the ongoing construction at Hofheinz/Fertitta Arena could impact a UH hosting bid at their ballpark?

We'll almost assuredly be a 3 seed. Since we're a middle of the pack to even low 3 seed in terms of RPI (and certainly will have the worst record of any 3 seed if that's what we end up being), it would make more sense for us to be a 3 seed at a regional with a stronger 1 seed (so Tech would make more sense than Houston).

If we're a 4 seed, it will be one pissed off 1 seed that has to play us in the first game.

Maybe. For reference, Fresno State was a 4 seed in 2008, and stood at 27-24 (if my math is right) heading into the NCAA tournament. Not sure of their RPI at that point.

Our RPI (according to Warren Nolan) is now 40. For reference sake, Miami is now 41, Fullerton is 43 and A&M is 46.

No debate-- we're definitely a 3 seed.

I just went through a Wikipedia rabbit hole to find that 2008 Fresno State entered the NCAA tournament at #89 RPI. The were the only bid from the WAC and the first team to beat us in NCAA Tournament play that year (we went went 0-2 in Omaha; elimination loss to LSU).
