RE: UNCW Basketball Schedule
I just read on an ECU message board that some guy, J'villePirate, thinks that UNCW will be a 200 plus RPI team now that Keatts is gone and that ECU should blow UNCW out when they play in late November in Greenville. That has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever read. I'm not saying that UNCW couldn't lose the game because that's possible if they play terribly and it's on the road, but I'd take UNCW right now in a true road game. And, I'm sure that Vegas will agree per normal.

We may have lost our best player. But it would have been a bigger hit if we had lost Cakock. It will be easier to adjust to losing CJ than losing Devante.

Let's not forget we have a UNC grad coaching there. Also, I like us with more in state games. UNCG could be a good rival, and from everything I've heard is "next up" for the CAA if a spot opens.

Season hasn't started yet. I agree with that sentiment in regards to Cacock but someone of that caliber isn't easily replaced. I see us having a rough year, but, he should have all the pieces to bounce back. We shall see

RE: UNCW Basketball Schedule
PG is solid if not a plus next year. Talley is good and you have Ty Taylor (Wichita St xfer), Richmond and Gary.

WG-Jaylen Fornes-excellent shooter and play maker-will make hoops you can count on that. Richmond and Gary.

WF-Estime and/or Fornes....not bad.

PF- Cacok-nuff said. Elmore who will eventually be able to pick and pop with the best of them with that shot presentation.

C-Sallah,Bryan and Kalina. Two true centers and a hybrid that does the little things.

That isn't bad at all. Fornes will eventually get his period-he's very talented on the offensive end. Question will be how quickly Estime evolves. PG will hold it's own on both ends. Cacok will get his. How much production do you get at the other post is another question? Defense will be better because it couldn't be worse and we have excellent size in the frontcourt. More answers than questions to me. Any time that you have experience at the PG position, you have solidity. I expect an upper division finish in the CAA. And, they still can get another player or two to augment the WF position and/or best available/sit out xfer.

RE: UNCW Basketball Schedule
It may not be right away but a change may be good. We knew that Keatts was leaning towards a big check and we landed a good coach. If he was sorry, he wouldn't have been able to get the players that he has already gotten to salvage this class. And, he got some size. That is what we've all been calling for and why we fell just short in the Dance. If Estime is as good as appears (judging from his ESPN evaluation) and shot presentation, the future will be good because Fornes is just a sophomore and everybody else will be back sans Talley. Not a bad position to be in. And, I want to control the freaking glass one good time, but that's just me.

It will be interesting to see the style of play Mcgrath implements, and how it translates with this roster. Because of the complete uncertainty of coach, style, players, we could end up anywhere from 1st. to last.

Have to agree, but my guess is the middle of the pack while it gets figured out.

I think anything less than a top 4 finish in the caa would be a disappointment with the players we have on the team.

How's Furman looking? They are clearly our best non Conf home game. They made a CIT run last year

Mixing Claflin and Alcohol leads to scheduling Division III opponents to pad your record.

The next thing you know, the Athletic Department will start mixing Claflin, alcohol, AND weed - then next year they will be scheduling the Sweet Briar Women's College JV team. After all, "it doesn't hurt your RPI"....

Claflin must be a gateway drug. Need to break the cycle of addiction

What is the current scholarship situation? We currently have one available for 2017-18, correct? Then, after next year we lose Talley, Powell and Bryan, so depending on how we handle the current open scholly, we'll have 3-4 heading into 18-19.

This upcoming season, we'll have three seniors, four in the junior class (Richmond, Cacok, Sallah and Kalina), four in the sophomore class (Taylor, Fornes, Elmore and Cylla [transfer ineligible to play in '18]), and two in the freshman class (Gary and Estime).

As I look at the roster and all of the newcomers, there is reason to be excited. We know what we have in Cacok. He'll be used differently and more will be expected of him this year, so I wouldn't say that he's a given, but he'll be the leader on this team. We also have several guys that were three-stars out of high school in Taylor (PG), Estime (SG), and Kalina ©, plus in 18-19 we're adding another three-star wing in Cylla. I'm not making any proclamations, but I think we're fielding talented teams. The potential is there! I'd like to see us in the upper half next year and competing for another NCAA birth in 2019. The starting lineup to open the season in 2018 could be Taylor, Estime, Cylla, Cacok and Kalina with Richmond, Fornes and Sallah being key reserves.

Fornes and Talley will start in all likelihood. Cylla has to sit a year. Sallah has a really good chance to start as well.
