No. This board will include college sports topics that are general, and college sports topics that are neither P5 nor G5, and G5-related topics.

Let me repeat again the quote from GTS up top: "any P5 specific threads near the top few pages will get moved over to the new P5 subforum". All other threads will stay here on this board.

So it is all about giving the "P5" their own board.

Then please stop referring to it as P5 and G5 boards. It is P5 and everything else.

Where does everyone else go?

You are trying to create an issue where there shouldn't be any. They post here now and will continue to be able to post on either board if the topic is College Sports related in general or realignment that involves a broader spectrum than just the focus of their conference board. Topics better posted on a conference board (those the subject matter of which is specific to just a particular conference) are not always appropriate in the open forum. And that goes for P5 and G5 threads as well. When such specific topics are posted here in number it makes those truly seeking broader Realignment information or issues related directly to College Sports in general more difficult to find. Open forums need topics that appeal to the collective of its posters as a whole, not topics that are specific to a particular group.

If anyone wants to continue this line of conversation then PM the mods. But try to use this thread for nominations.

That just says what will happen to existing threads. If "this" board is labeled G5, how will people in the future understand this is where you should post information on the Summit league or how streaming is changing the sports TV world or the NCAA DIV I baseball tournament?

RE: >>>>>>> Reorganization of this forum and moderator election <<<<<<<
I mostly stick to the AAC forum anyway, but this change doesn't make sense. Any P5 realignment is going to cascade down through the rest of college sports so it's impossible to isolate them into distinct subjects. If the B12 takes Houston and then the AAC replaces them with Rice, which forum does that go in? Are we barred from mentioning the Houston to B12 move when discussing Rice to AAC?

And as others have noted a lot of the discussion here isn't P5 vs G5 but general college sports related. New NCAA rules, changes at ESPN, changes at the FCS and lower levels, etc. Which forum does that go in? And don't say post duplicate threads in both forums, that's a waste of time and nobody will do it.

One forum will end up getting all the activity, the other will become a dead zone. As if this site didn't already have enough niche sub-forums with no activity.

Labeling is a good point. Probably should label this board "College Sports" or "General College Sports".

I, and from the looks of it, most of the other posters are saying that YOU guys are the ones creating an issue where there should be none - no need to separate the board.

Maybe it is poor communication. Maybe try to understand the concerns of YOUR CUSTOMERS, the posters that drive traffic to the board instead of being dismissive

That is what we are getting at.

My niche is D2 schools because my alum is Arkansas Tech. Any news or changes going on at D1 could also be used in D2. D2 schools also face the same issues as the D1 schools especially in football. I posted articles about D2 schools looking to join D1 like North Alabama. I got bashed for posting about them moving up, and the same bashing that I get today about Colorado Mesa and others that could move up to D1 and all that. The times are different today than it was since 1978. Reforming D1 including P5 and G5 status are going to happen. The problem with some of you nominating people that you listed showed that these people are not neutral. Some of them have been the one bashing me on this forum, and they should be disqualified from being a forum mod.

But, can he fairly me neutral? There were some threads he jumped all over me, and bashing me about my own alma mater. A mod should not be involved in such considerations until he proves he do not personally bashing a posted.

I agree wholeheartedly and this is why I nominated you! You've taken a herculean amount of abuse hurled at you and not one time retaliated. You don't hold grudges. Your approach to the entire spectrum of college athletics is fairness and non-judgmental, and no doubt that would transfer to your moderatorship.

Agree. I really don't see what the problem is with the current set up, since the discussion ends up being about both P6 and G4, FCS, non-football, D-2, etc. P6 and G4, as well as the incorrect P5 and G5, are simply artificial labels made up by the media as well. Those labels are not official in any way.
