RE: Friday Baseball at UAB!! Game Thread
Personally I won't forget the 4:48 game vs. Hawaii in 2013, as that was the first game of the series vs. Hawaii, so the team had just arrived and thus when the final out was recorded, it was nearly 3 am Houston time. This was the quotation from Eric Sorenson's writeup about the game: "The poor Rice bat boy. I wasn’t here for the 17-inning game on Friday night, but the Owls fans were telling me he was dragging bats back from the plate at a glacial pace for the last three innings or so. The fans started giving him ovations each time he was able to make it back to the dugout."

In fairness to the batboy (as a father is prone to do...), they had a massive foul territory area, requiring about a 20 yard run from the dugout to the batter's box, and then another 20 yards back...for 17 innings...at 3 am his time. When Ford Stainback came up in the top of the 17th with a runner in scoring position, Stefan asked him, "Ford, when you get a hit, could you try to throw your bat back closer to the dugout?" Ford responded, "I'll see what I can do," and then promptly hit a single up the middle to score what became the winning run.

The NCAA D1 superlatives (in 2017's record book) are:

Most runs scored, single team (p. 33):

50 -- Nebraska vs. Chicago St. (3) March 16, 1999

- - - -

Most runs scored, both teams (. 34):

62 -- Denver (33) vs. Air Force (29) May 13, 1968

- - - -

I did not see any mention there of longest-time games.

Two down, one to go to reach the .500 plateau for the regular season. Winners of 14 of our last 17 games, including 9 consecutive road victories. Offense en fuego-- team AVG up to .289...44 HRs, with 8 different players with 4+ HRs...now averaging a solid 5.9 runs per game (which, unfortunately, is offset by our giving up an embarrassing for us 5.9 runs/game). Fielding percentage also up a season-high .968.

Find a way-- any way-- to win this afternoon, and head into Biloxi on a roll. Go Owls!

Great to see Dunlap turn into a crafty, pitch watching home run hitter. You were correct that he should have been the regular DH all season Walt.

Dunlap's 6 runs scored last night tied the school record held by Joseph Cathey, Lance Berkman (same game) Jason Richards (one week later) and Aaron Luna.

49 times.

You didn't say "in a game" so I assumed you meant "in a quarter"

49 quarters of up fewer than 17? I'll take that bet.

It would sure be an improvement. We only played 48 quarters last year.

I used to have a friendly standing wager with one of my UT alum friends that we'd win at least one quarter when we played them in football. And we usually did. First (before they got warmed up) or Fourth (garbage time).

Video stream of all CUSA tourney games on ESPN3. Looks like breakfast at Biloxi on Wednesday vs. FAU. I'm anticipating a slugfest. Having roadtripped to Boca Raton for the series vs. FAU, their hitters are both powerful (67 HRs on the season) and show exceptional plate discipline (leading the conference in BBs and HBPs). Our pitchers better be prepared to throw strikes, and keep the ball down in the zone.

I am not much of a sports bettor, but I used to have friend who was a bookie. Since he was my friend, he let me have the following deal: I took Rice, plus the points if we were the underdog or minus the points if we were the favorite, in every game for $25/game (no vig), and we settled up at the end of the season. I always made a few bucks.
