NU vs JMU
NU holds on once again to beat JMU 7-6 to sweep the series and thanks to Towson beating UNCW, NU is the #1 seed at the tournament in Wilmington!
It's the first regular season title since joining the CAA.
NU has a bye and won't play until Thursday.

But there's a couple of things going into the tourney ...
This tourney is WIDE open. NU, UNCW, Delaware or W&M can easily win it.
UNCW's Brooks Field has been a house of horrors for NU. We've beaten UNCW ONCE since 2006 and we haven't won many games when the tourney has been held there.
But this team has faced adversity all year, so in the words of former boxing referee Mills Lane ... LET'S GET IT ON!!

Congrats on the Regular Season title guys. Mike Glavine has done a heck of a job with that program, and everyone I've talked to says he's a really good dude too.
Should be a great tournament down here.

Looking forward to the tourney.
I still think you guys are the favorite. Brooks Field has been very unkind to NU ...

We expect to be the favorites because of our history, how well we've been playing the last 2/3 of the season, and due to home field advantage. But we have also, of course, had tournaments here where we've been a top seed but didn't win it.
I think anyone but Delaware and Elon can win this thing. Delaware because they're awful away from their tiny astroturf field. Elon because I just don't think they have the firepower. They also play on turf.
W&M has an elite offense, Charleston has an elite pitcher (Ober), while Northeastern and UNCW were very good in a lot of different ways. Any of those teams can get hot.

Delaware scares me a bit. They're tough on us during the tourney.
CofC is missing something. They have the talent to win it but have been a disappointment all year.
I agree about Elon.
W&M is dangerous and UNCW is, well, UNCW come tourney time.
But its WIDE open.

RE: NU vs JMU
If Charleston chooses to save Ober and can win against Delaware without him (which I think they can), they become very dangerous. Ober just shut down # 13 Arizona in a complete game and was National Pitcher of the Week, and as a freshman was National Freshman Pitcher of the Year, after all.
Otherwise, yes, they're a very pedestrian team.

I watched most of his performance against Arizona. It was awesome.
But we've actually done OK against the big fella. Sure he's racked up a lot of K's, but we've also hit him well.
Delaware put some bats on him too last weekend.
I wouldn't want to face him in an elimination game though ...

RE: NU vs JMU
On a side note ...
I predict Glavine as CAA Coach of the Year. And yes, he's a really good guy. He always gets back to me when I ask him a question.
1B Cam Hanley 1st Team
SS Max Burt 1st team
RHP Brian Christian 1st Team (or 2nd)
RHP Mike Fitzgerald 2nd or 3rd Team
2B Scott Holzwasser All-Rookie Team

Glavine as COY would be very well deserved.
