MyBB OT: Former Bobcat DJ Cooper wins league MVP
Article

Quote:Cooper’s win in the voting was more than impressive, after being the first player in the French league since Pierre Bressant (14.5 asp in 1988-89) to dish more than 10 assists per game.

To be exact, he had 11.1 assists per average and now it remains to be seen what he can do in the quarter-finals of the playoffs against Strasbourg which has the French national team coach Vincent Collet on its bench.

The complete list
Players (Teams) Points 1st place votes
D.J.Cooper (Pau-Lacq-Orthez) 329 52
Moustapha Fall (Chalon/Saone) 191 7
Cameron Clark (Chalon/Saone) 171 5
Jason Rich (Paris Levallois) 102 7
John Roberson (Chalon/Saone) 95 1
Dee Bost (Monaco) 72 3
Paul Lacombe (Strasbourg) 29 –
Justin Cobbs (Gravelines-Dunkerque) 20 –
Zack Wright (Monaco) 18 –
Chris Warren (Nanterre) 17 –

Coop keeps on being Coop.

Not quite MVP-level, but another MAC alumni doing good...

Kent State Alum Derek Jackson is playing for Oberwart, and they're in the semi-final of Austria's top A Bundesliga. He's 10th in the league in ppg, 4th in apg, and 1st in steals per game. Jackson and Oberwart won the A-Bundesliga championship last year. From last year:

"Austrian champion Redwell Gunners Oberwart managed to keep point guard Derek Jackson (185-PG-91, college: Kent St., agency: Mansfield and Associates). After resigning ABL Finals MVP Chris McNealy Jackson is the second import player from the championship team to stay in Oberwart. Jackson played his first year as a pro last season having a rocky start at the beginning but improved throughout the season. He led the league in steals at 2.3 per game and posted averages of 12.6 ppg, 3.3 apg and 3.2 rpg. Jackson shot 41.7% FG, 31% from 3PT range and 82% from the line. He was selected to play in the ABL All Star game and was voted Eurobasket All Austrian 2nd team as well as All Defensive team."

Just an update -

Former Golden Flash Chris Evans and Former Bobcat D.J. Cooper currently play for AS Monaco - Monaco won the French ProA League, so advanced to the European Champions League. They made it to the Championship game before losing to AEK Athens, 100-94. Evans had 6 points, Cooper had 8. Former Buckeye Aaron Craft also played for Monaco. Former Zip Dru Joyce played for Monaco earlier in the season, before moving to CSP Limoges
