Me too... for some reason I thought 2016 was the last year of the agreement?

I'm pretty sure we have one more return game, but there is some talk that TN may try to get out of it.

I too thought they said this last game finished the deal. I'm over it (and them). Could care less if we play them in the next 5 years. I would rather see us raise the bar for awhile, then go back and play them.

RE: 2017-18 Schedule
When they announced the deal with UT, it was 2 away games and a home game. We have played that out. However, before that deal we played them on a pretty regular basis anyway so maybe this is a new money game contract. I personally wish that we would play a different ACC/SEC team besides UT. I am frankly tired of getting beat by them, and I don't think this year would be all that close of a game.

I hope we have some worthy home games. Also Savannah State is dropping it's athletics to Division II. Not sure if that takes effect this upcoming season or not.

I've heard a rumor of another SEC school, not UT. Since I'm not sure if the party sharing the info wanted it broadly known, I'll refrain from additional comment on it.

While that would be awesome, there's no way Pearl would schedule that. His ego is way too big to potentially lose to an under study.

I doubt you will see Forbes and Buzz Williams voluntarily play each other while Forbes is at ETSU.

RE: 2017-18 Schedule
I've said it once and I'll keep saying it until they finally break down and do it. There is no excuse whatsoever in not doing everything possible to schedule some sort of combination of MTSU, Vandy, Belmont, and Lipscomb in home and home series. I realize Vandy probably wouldn't come to Johnson City (though you never know), but the other three are always desperate for home games and provides quality opponents in state as well as a great weekend trip for fans if you double it up as a Thursday/Saturday combo. Plus, why would they not want to increase their foot print in one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, and a city that's on an incredible run of Division I athletes in both football and basketball coming out of multiple areas (Metro, Rutherford, Wilson, Williamson).

RE: 2017-18 Schedule
FWIW, Vandy's women came to JC this last season. Coach Ezell convinced a LOT of big name schools to make the trip. I can see Forbes having the clout to get some of them over this way for home and homes over the next 2-4 years. I'd LOVE to have us play MTSU and the others you mentioned. I think some more instate rivalry focus could be great for all the schools. Heck, even though they aren't amazing, I'd like to see us play APSU on occasion. I'd buy some toilet seats for the student section to have for mocking purposes.

If I didn't absolutely hate the traffic going up to Clarksville I"d be good with playing them, too. Kind of the same reason I have no interest in playing TSU for kind of the same idea. Crappy part of town, horrible traffic, etc...
I think he could for sure pull MTSU in, they have the same struggles ETSU does in getting quality OOC home games.

RE: 2017-18 Schedule
Memphis, Tenn Tech, VT, Vandy, APSU, and MTSU refused to schedule ETSU this past season. Don't know about Belmont or Lipscomb.

Instead of saying it over and over again and blaming ETSU for not playing these schools, you call them Lover and tell them "there is no excuse" for not playing ETSU. I'm sure your call would carry more weight than Steve Forbes.
