I really, really, really, don't see LU in the Atlantic 10. There are private schools in the A-10, and some (mildly) religious schools....but LU would be a VERY incongruent fit with the A-10.
Many of the A-10 schools are also VERY wealthy (SIX of them have more money than Temple, and 10 of them have more on an endowment to student basis). They also don't need to finance FBS football either, so their budgets aren't really that stressed.

The A-10 faces NORTH and EAST. So much so that they reportedly were uninterested in adding Wichita State. LU faces SOUTH and WEST. The A-10 only has a school that happens to play FBS football because they were already in the league when they moved up. Many of our members think that one of the best things that happened to us was when the CAA stole our FCS conference from us.
Other than UMass, there's no interest in any of our teams to move up. And we like it that way. Richmond is never moving up. URI is barely competitive in FCS scholarship football. Fordham is never moving up (and quite frankly - most of our members see them as a huge mistake). Davidson, Duquesne, and Dayton are really 'fake FCS schools'. Even the teams in our league that play football....other than perhaps UMass...would be a hard no on any team that is looking to whipsaw our conference around for FBS football.
And that's before you get to the non-football schools, ALL of whom are even more opposed to FBS schools in the league.
And in the A-10, its all about basketball. LU's performance in men's basketball has been really poor.
The A-10 already has THREE schools in Virginia and another within eyeshot of it.
If there was an opening in the A-10, there would be a LONG line of teams wanting to join even a picked over A-10. Siena, Manhattan, Hofstra, JMU would be ahead of LU. So would College of Charleston, UNCW, Valpo, Boston Univ., Northeastern, etc.

Maybe LU can join the AAC when Temple gets kicked out of another conference.....LOL.
