TSU cancels Senator Coryn's speech at commencement
http://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/pol...143194.php

Now they don't even want to hear non-controversial speakers who aren't leftists. Senator Coryn is relatively moderate among the Republicans.

Concerns about an ugly student confrontation prompted Texas Southern University to cancel a scheduled commencement address Saturday by U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, the second-ranking Republican in the Senate.

They would rather hear that elder statesman Maxine Waters. At least they could understand her.

Good to see how much they have grown and how well prepared they are for the real world.

I keep hoping that in the future, we are treated to news stories of how these snowflakes are failing in their jobs because their work environments make them "feel unsafe." I'm going to need a lot of popcorn the next few years.

RE: TSU cancels Senator Coryn's speech at commencement
Honest question: when was the last time something like this happened to a Democrat/liberal/progressive/whatever.

By "this", I mean:

1. An invitation to speak in a college campus revoked by the Admin.;
2. A physical protest by spectators while the speech is taking place;
3. The speaker injured/threatened/physically assaulted/withdrawn from the venue under armed guard.

Maybe this happens all the time to people who espouse political views like those of Michael Moore, Kamala Harris, etc. But I can't remember ever hearing about it.

They could have just said. We're going to have your speech....AFTER an hour long town hall meeting where you'll be asked questions from your constituents in the crowd...

LOL.

Of course he is, but you are too far left to see it. Cornyn is middle of the pack of Senate Republicans who are more moderate than Republicans in the House. Cornyn is one of those who reaches across the aisle. Nothing controversial about him.

He got reelected in 2014 with 62% of the vote. Ted Cruz got 57% in 2012.

Cornyn is definitely a moderate on the wall. He has said that the people of Texas didn't vote for a wall when they voted for Trump. I remember, because upon seeing it, I emailed informing him that he was mistaken.

You're moving the goalposts because you know you are wrong. You didn't expect to get challenged. As I said he is relatively moderate among the Republicans.

You claimed he's a moderate. I'm simply asking you to show how he's a moderate using actual votes on legislation.

You moved the goal posts by comparing him to Sessions or Cruz. Just because they exist doesn't make everyone who only votes with them 99.999999999% of the time a moderate. It might be 'more moderate', but I suppose Mussolini was more moderate than Hitler. They were both fascists.

And Cornyn and Sessions and Cruz are both extreme right wing.

Trying to show any votes while Harriet Reid was majority leader will be futile. He didnt allow a vote on almost anything.

You must classify Jeb Bush as extreme right wing!

As I said repeatedly and you ignored or simply read what you wanted to suit your preconceptions, Cornyn is moderate for a Republican and middle of the pack for Republican Senators.

He is not far right by any rational measure.

Why is this any different than any particular conservative rally refusing/canceling a progressive speaker, for the same stated reason??

The TSU students didn't want to hear what he had to say. So what?

Just like, people attending a conservative rally don't want to hear what a progressive speak would have to say. Again, so what??
