Really interesting freshman kicker in Jake Julien. Our only 5 star recruit in history! Haha Crossing fingers he follows in the footsteps of Fricano.

All the way from Canada, ranked 18th among incoming college punters, by someone.
Would be very fortunate if he can step right in like Fricano and solve our glaring punting problem. Big kid for a punter .....6'2, 220.

Thanks,

Time to get my football hat on...

Print out the roster, pencil in starting positions so I can remember what I read a day or week ago... 03-lmfao

After a while OLs become like alphabet soap. For whatever reason, folks remember the positions of DL better. No one confuses a DT or a DE.

They're legit? The primary place these kickers/punters/snappers get ranked?

Looks like it just based on a quick look at their website.

I heard that big things can be expected from Nielsen, Leatiota and Tallman. I heard they play with some nastiness. Your thoughts?

Your thoughts on Armstrong and Donnellon?

Just possible the OL might be better than what some (including me) think.

Big thing this is not a really experienced group like last year's group. Might be a 'year away?'?

Might be much better in 2018?

In my opinion the offensive line just needs to hold their own. They don't need to be exceptional, just minimize mistakes and penalties. There's a ton of talent at QB and RB to help them out.

I just browse the roster for the first time in a while. A lot of new names on there. And a lot of kids from various other countries. The team is very International.

And from the picture it looks like Leatiota has cut his hair off. That will look different.

LuckeyOne, I'm sure I'm the one who said that in an earlier recruiting thread I believe.

In a nutshell again. The 3 inside guys will be as good or better than our 3 last year (in my opinion). Tallman is big and tough and seems to have found a home inside, after struggling outside because of a lack of foot speed. Donnellon is 300lbs and ready to roll now after a year in weight room. He always had the athleticism and toughness. Leatiota has been a starter the day he showed up.

Armstrong has played LT and struggled before. More reps now that he's the first guy up might help, but I think he is what he is. An average at best MAC Olineman, serviceable but not close to either of last year's OT's. Nielsen was decent inside last year, which was great for a true frosh. Plenty of size obviously, but the million dollar question is his technique and foot quickness. Like Armstrong, hopefully the extra reps will have him ready for the season. As of today, he has a LONG ways to go. Can't hang with Harris or Crosby at all right now. Crossing fingers that it's just a lack of reps issue that he can overcome.

Pavletich is probably the only other guy that might have the feet, but apparently he can't stay healthy. Unfortunately, Dervil doesn't look like the answer at all so far.

Apparently Sidy Sow is a monster. Showed up at 6'5, 315lbs of pretty good looking weight. Not your typical weak pillow fat freshman you often see at 300+. Probably drops 10 bad pounds or so once he's in our weight program, and crossing fingers he's comparable to Nielsen from last year. If so, he could immediately jump into the 2 deep at OT. The test will obviously be once he gets on the field in pads working against our DE's in 1 on 1's.

Your thoughts on Armstrong and Donnellon?

First of all the offensive line returnees have lots of playing experience guys like HIckey, Chris Bukoski, Bergman, Pavletich. Mike Smith and Mike Van Hoeven were highly ranked high school lineman by recruiting services. Armstrong has had trouble handling pass rushing in the past, I really like Nielsen and Leatiota, Tallman has started in the past. Donnellon wasn't highly rated star wise but had some nice post season high school All Star games. Sam Dervil should contribute. There's potential here but unfortunately potential that needs to be REALIZED. We add a German import Yannik Rohrschneider and a Yspi native who appears to be a JUCO Delvin McCallister, both have good size. Sow and Pedrozo have good size and the benefit of a redshirt year. Where Harris III and Ramsey fit in is unknown.

I noticed many of the lineman have actually dropped weight maybe looking at stronger but faster offensive line which may work better with passes and screens out of the backfield rather than three yards and a cloud of dust.

Good news. OT and DL are very tough positions to recruit. Hope we got lucky with Sow.

This Yannik Rohrschneider thing out of the blue is interesting as well. Looks like Nielsen's brother, haha. Somebody on staff obviously working this overseas angle. Rohrschneider has now led to an offer for Anton Oskarsson. (scroll down his twitter) https://twitter.com/yannikdp77?lang=en

Really tough to judge these guys because of the level of competition. Multiple times in his highlights he one arm swats at a little DE and the kid goes flying 5 yards off his feet! 03-lmfao

If Rohrschneider and Sidy Sow show up this year, as good as Nielsen did right out of the gates last year, I'll shut up about the OL recruiting. 04-cheers

Is Rohrschnider a 2017 or 18 commit?

Look at the roster. He's one of the freshman. That's why I said 'out of the blue'. Never heard the guys name from EMU79, or during any recruiting announcements.
