Wichita State adds a buy game with Florida Gulf Coast. I'll take it.

Add Charleston to WSU's schedule from Jon Rothstein. RPI of 65 last year.

Wichita State will host Charleston on November 13th as part of its 2017-18 non-conference schedule, per a source.

It's too bad Tulane doesn't have any fans. I'd make fun of them more often but nobody cares.

We generally don't post about basketball until November unless its a Tulane board recruiting thread. I was about to post the FSU series...

Interesting. No DII schools. We've been known to schedule a DII once in a blue moon when a schedule goes to pieces and we need a filler game. Guess that's done.

As an ECU fan this exchange stuck out to me. Perhaps it's time to start mandating OoC scheduling requirements, because Lebo's schedules are a drag on the conference.

Quote:How active is the American conference office in helping and directing non-conference men’s basketball scheduling?

Arecso: We’re heavily involved. Not in terms of mandating things as much as trying to encourage people to do what’s necessary to generate a higher RPI, generate more conference bids and strengthen our conference. You earn respect by winning those big non-conference games.

We discourage playing over No. 300 (ranked) RPI schools. We don’t permit (NCAA) Division II schools, things of that nature. We like to see a certain level of RPI with your non-conference schedule. We’ll have requirements about how many teams you can play with a certain RPI.

You want to make sure everyone in the conference is doing what they need to be doing. If a few schools aren’t doing those things, it’s going to hurt everyone. Basketball is really dependent on an overall conference RPI, much moreso than football.

Probably. Campus is lousy with construction projects, the names on the new buildings are still alive, everywhere you look in town you see Wu, the city's actively investing in new projects, and Gregg Marshall is a fantastic salesman.

One of the anti-progress elements in student government may have dome something crazy on the visit, but that's all I can think of that would have derailed the visit.

But Lebo can't get them on the schedule? Is it a we're too good to lose to an in state team thing for UNC or is Lebo just really not trying? I mean even if he's just collecting a retirement check he could still just hand shake to throw the game. Hell at this point a unc loss would probsbly help our conference rpi more than any victory in ecu's non conference.

Just to be clear i'm not trolling just stunned that Tulane set this up but ECU is playing grambling/little sisters of the blind/deleware state/parapalegic poly murderers row schedule

If you have to play a cupcake at home, I prefer a game with a D2 school to some D1 cupcake with an RPI in the 300s.

Beat a D2 school at home, and your RPI stays the same (because it doesn't count).

Beat an RPI 300 team at home, and your RPI gets worse.

USF announced our nonconference schedule
Nov 10 Florida Atlantic
Nov 13 Morgan State
Nov 15 at Stetson
Nov 19 at Indiana
Nov 22 Howard
Nov 24 Arkansas State
Nov 26 Eastern Michigan
Nov 30 at Elon
Dec 2. at Appalachian State
Dec 11 Florida International
Dec 14 Bethune Cookman
Dec 18 Northern Arizona
Dec 21 Charlotte

I like our schedule for the team that we will have this year. We are expected to be at the bottom of league, so the schedule is one we should handle. We need to beat those lower RPI teams and come out better than .500 I would hope 8-5 at least

your schedule is actually horrific ..extremely horrific ...and coming 8-5 out of that will destroy the league...

if you're going to schedule horribly you have to win most of it.. 10-3 on that schedule is a must..if you expect losses throw some good rpi games in there

we honestly need a scheduling mandate. too many teams have this mentality of "we are supposed to be horrible this year so a horrible schedule is probably better for us".. thats how you eventually end up a 1 bid league..we have the lowest ranked OOC sos ranking by any power conference and below 5 other conference who are mid-major

usf was by far the lowest rpi team of any power conference +a10/wcc (similar horrible schedule last year)...Oregon state on only 4 wins was ranked 40 spots higher ...

its a trickling effect..then memphis had the most wins of any power conference team not to make the NIT/ncaa

then smu and uc on 30 wins are only 5-6 seeds in the tourney

and pride plays into it too...Tulane schedules great because theylll do buy games...ecu/ usf are too proud to to that...and what good team wants to schedule a home and home with 260+ rpi teams
this isnt a knock on on those teams either, houston is the exact same way...we have a decent schedule this season because are expected to be a top 100 rpi team..but when we are projected bad,, our schedules are just as bad....

put a mandate of 1 top 50 rpi team and 2 other top 100 rpis, in the previous season (or projected by the aac staff) minimum/ no more than 2 300+ rpi games...or you lose ncaa credit money...make teams push their pride aside

just speaking from a houston standpoint we are too proud to do buy games unless we are forced even if we knew it would help the conference
