not sure they use csnbbs, at least not regularly. They only had two active threads in all of 2016 and you're the first in 2017.

Speaking of ECU, there was a good article on Donnie Kirkpatrick on Bonesville.net. It's about halfway down the page:

Joins Thomas Sirk, QB who transferred from Duke about a month ago.

Also came across this. Well done Coach Mo.

That's a pretty touching thing to do. What a classy guy. I honestly didn't know much about him, but instantly like the guy.
I almost feel bad that we're gonna have to beat his team this fall.

RE: EZU Game
Out of curiosity, what is the basis of why many on the board think JMU will beat ECU?

I think folks are looking at it simply - ECU had a down year last year. JMU's only loss came at UNC. JMU returns a lot from last year while I would imagine that ECU will be better than they were last year and they have more scholarships/more talent I think that JMU has a real shot to compete and win this game.

It is a lot to expect JMU to win this game. ECU is a pretty good program. Stronger than SMU. I believe JMU has a shot but it might take a few games for the new players to gel with the players coming back. Should be a close game decided in the 4th quarter.

This is where I am. Sure, we have a chance and a fairly good one as compared to other FCS/FBS games, but you'd have to be drinking some purple Kool Aid to think this will be anything other than a close entertaining game.

Then fill my glass up (again) with some of that purple Gatorade. JMU walks away with a 14+ point win.

RE: EZU Game
It's anywhere from a 7 point JMU win to a 14 point JMU loss. The wildcard here is not so much JMU but ECU. How much have they improved? If the 15 win JMU team plays the 3 win ECU team from last year, we'll win.

RE: EZU Game
I feel JMU has the better team (mainly because we are peaking and ECU is rebuilding). We don't have better overall talent or obviously depth but as far as performing as a well-coached, well-executing team we've got an edge. If we played 10 times (5 home for each) I think we win 6 or 7 but it being the first game of the year and at ECU it could go either way. There will always be hubristic trolls stating landslides one way or the other as fact but such is the internet.

So I agree that with most of what you're saying, but why do we have less overall talent? We recruit similar players with similar offers and also receive P5 transfers.

At many of the skill positions we've had some great success but I'd say across the OL and DL are is where we get out-matched in terms of size and speed. That's the nature of FCS but the key is to find kids with the right frame and potential and then bulk them up. For example when I was at JMU I had 3 offensive linemen (all starters) living with me at some point and one of them had gained about 50 pounds by his senior year. One of the others probably never broke 255.
