Good news. Wonder if ELS will try to invite other clubs to take Chelsea and Manchester City's place?

The only clubs that would take them up on it and NOT piss off large swaths of their fandom are probably Celtic and Rangers...they're trying to find any way off of that uninhabitable island called the SPL.

Seems all pretty moot now, at least for the time being. I have a feeling we haven't heard the last of a Super League.

I think it’s all just posturing to get the UCL restructured. I’m sure when they’re upset about the UCL again it will come back.

If they want anyone to take their proposal seriously they'll have to come up with something FAR better next time because this incarnation of a "super league" as they described it was honestly one of the dumbest ideas I've heard in quite some time. What is their issue with how the Champions League is structured though?

Their issue is they want guaranteed participation in the CL. Actually, UEFA just recently introduced a new CL format that starts 2024. 36 team league format replaces group stage. Each team will play a total of 10 games home and away, with the top eight automatically qualifying for the last 16 and those finishing between ninth and 24th to compete in two-legged play-offs to decide who else makes the knockout stage. The teams that finish lower than 24th will exit European competition completely, and the last 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will all continue with their original format. The guaranteed 10 games was a concession to the big teams in that it increases their revenue.

EDIT: Another concession is UEFA is apparently considering awarding two CL spots to teams based on their historical performances in Europe.

Great victory for Marshall. Went through the gauntlet to win the prize.

This Sunday is going to be absolutely nuts in Ligue 1.

If Lille beats Angers, they win the title outright. If they draw/lose, PSG would take the title with a win over Brest.

If Lille and PSG both lose, Monaco could still win the title as well with a win over Lens and by making up some ground in GD.

On the other end of the table, the 6 teams that currently sit in positions 13-18 could all still be the last team to be relegated.

Anytime someone takes Indiana down in men's soccer, it is a good day. A pretty sweet finish too. Good things can happen when teams crash the net.

I heard during the broadcast that Marshall had only one starter who was American-born. The rest were from overseas. From Brazil, Germany and who knows where, to Huntington, West Virginia. Awesome to see.

They somehow rostered 47 players this season...on 9.9 scholarships. I'm thinking Marshall's FA office did some funny money calculations 03-lmfao.

Is there any chance the French FA doesn't attempt to ruin Galtier's career here shortly? I'm thinking Deschamps is one poor performance away from being fired for no reason...they seem to like to do that to managers in France.

I'm just glad Marshall took down UNC-Cheat. Something we couldn't do in 2011 in the National Championship match.

Great season ending for City and Aguerro yesterday. 2 goals off the bench to tie then break the goals scored for one club record. Fifth Premier League Cup as well. Beat Chelsea!

Good to see Aguerro go out in style at City. Now he's apparently off to Barcelona to play alongside Messi. Hopefully that goes better than when the two of them pair up for Argentina.

Can somebody explain the two international tournaments the US is playing in this summer? Well, I understand the Gold Cup.

CONCACAF Nations League semi-finals and finals are the culmination of a competition that started in 2019 and was disrupted by the pandemic.

Its purpose is to give teams in CONCACAF more "meaningful" games to play over the course of the year and there are also ramifications for future Gold Cup qualification.

Gold Cup is a 16-team tournament that happens every two years and serves as the "CONCACAF Championship".

Both USA and Mexico have won 5 of the last 10 trophies.
