RE: OT: Officially The Official Soccer Thread
In a money grab, Spain decided to hold its SuperCup (usually league winner vs copa del rey winner) in Saudi Arabia of all places. In order to try and get a Clasico, it also, for the first time, invited two "guest teams" to participate namely Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. Well, the final is set for Sunday between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. Two teams that neither won the league or Copa Del Rey are now playing for the SuperCup while the two teams that did win the league and Copa Del Rey are playing in the 3rd place match. Even though I'm a Barca fan, I'm sort of glad the league isn't getting its Clasico after screwing up the SuperCup AND moving it out of Spain and to Saudi Arabia.

This Liverpool season is like nothing I've ever seen. What a time to be a Liverpool fan.

Liverpool finally lost, so there's that. Hard to be Atletico Madrid if they score an early goal and then park 11 people behind the ball. It's not pretty, but it is effective. I still think Anfield will be different, unless AM gets another early goal.

Wigan beat Millwall 1-0, @Reading 3-0, and @ league leaders West Brom 1-0 over the course of a week.

Still remain one of the most amazing clubs in all of Europe after all these years.

Hell of a run for Liverpool.

Hot take: Sell Salah and put it towards Mbappe (if he's interested) or Timo Werner. Salah is too selfish and inconsistent, and his value is at an all-time high right now. Time to cash in.

Yikes...for a Liverpool fan, I'm surprised you'd want to do anything to break up this group, even for the off chance of pulling another player of equal talent. Mbappe is an interesting one though, he has clearly decided he won't be renewing for PSG, and with the fans starting to turn on him, they may be able to get him for a swan.

PSG is going to throw the entire bank at Mbappe but he may still go to Madrid. I don't think Liverpool will make any drastic changes. I mean when a team is 22+ points up in league play there is bound to be a let down sometime through the season. I can guarantee they will be ready for Atletico Madrid though. Although, that's not the easiest team to come back against given how they are almost guaranteed to park the bus for the entire 90 minutes.
