Guess the tennis team is getting a bubble!

Going to replace the tennis courts already in that location.

If they're going to invest in something like that, I would hope they're using it as the regular tennis facility including their home matches.

RE: Campus construction and projects
Since it's a bubble type structure, I'd guess that it would only be in place through winter. These structures, while portable or temporary in nature, aren't always left up year round. For tennis, it might make sense to take it down in the spring so that you can have outdoor games, and put it back up in late fall. They're not portable enough to be taken down and put up on a daily basis. Guess we'll see!

Westover pool uses one from October to May or something like that for one of the pools.

I don't know if VCU still has their bubble, but I'm pretty sure it came down during the warm weather

I have seen more permanent "bubbles" at tennis clubs, but of course they are focused just on tennis...

Is the bubble over the valley permanent?

Hotel Madison photos from Monday 17 July. This thing looks massive. The photos were all from the corner of Main and MLK. I couldn't get behind as it was blocked off.

Just saw this on Twitter... Is it me or is something looking like it's happening above the club and in front of the 300 collar? Has that always been a black color or is a ribbon video board going in?

Just shade...you can still see the suite TV screens in front of the dark area.

Campus construction and projects
I had to head down 81 today for a meeting and stopped off for a quick drive through campus

1. The new hotel is going to be an amazing addition to the campus and the greater Hburg community. It is very impressive.

2. The new D-hall is massive. Pictures just don't do it justice to how large it really is. No trip to campus is complete without a stop at the book store (it's right over there) but from the parking lot it's surprising how much the new d-hall dominates the hill[attachment=8916]

Deez,

What is the university services annex? I'm trying to find it on the campus map but I may be missing it. It looks like Madison Hall is the only completed project that is brand new since last fall 2016. I visited the Student Success Center and CHBS last fall. Amazing buildings.

I'll have to have a look at the construction progress of Hotel Madison and Dhall. Anything else new that's worth visiting?

RE: Campus construction and projects
USB annex is basically offices and garages for facilities management way back in the site where the old Co-Op was on Grace Street. It's nothing shiny or fancy - it's a long red brick building you would think has been there for a while. Pretty unnoticeable. The old grad school house on Grace street was demolished too. Probably wouldn't notice that's gone. Sonner was discretely renovated but it's not noticeable to the outside.

Hotel Madison and Dhall are the only "visible" projects around at the moment I think. Grace street from Main to Student Success was widened and has a traffic light being installed. MLK/Cantrell is still being widened at the hotel/Mason Street. Campus construction will pick up soon with a new dorm, Wilson reno, parking deck, and (next year) chandler demo/business building, blue ridge hall demo/convo, and Phillips Center-Dukes demo/rebuild
