RE: How Much Too Much
Well, I am a Business major and a retired banker. I know that all salaries are driven by demand and what the market will bear. Saban's salary is case and point for supply and demand. I am a history buff Terry and I agree with you 100%. And my Sc.ot-Irish and English ancestors fought in the Revolutionary 07-coffee3

RE: How Much Too Much
The salaries aren't the concerning thing. Saban is probably underpaid given the economic return he brings.

The killer is these guaranteed buyouts for guys that fail and are fired. I'd rather see schools double coaching salaries and get rid of these stupid buyout guarantees. Schools paying out tens of millions to fired coaches are the shameful thing.

I get that's a market factor as well, if one school doesn't offer the guarantee, another will. And they are important in recruiting. But in my opinion, I'd rather see a school counter a $3.5M/year offer almost totally guaranteed with $6.5M and a minimal guarantee and see if that flies. Maybe it still doesn't.
