The Skins know how to develop WRs but he has a tough job as they have a ton of WRs hes going to compete with. I hope he sticks, but could see him doing well and another team scooping him up. Numbers game.
Do you think the Skins were the first to offer and he jumped on it or that his agent thought it was the best fit for him?
They were either the first to offer or made the best offer. His agent was the one doing all of that leg work. Zach just had the final say.
I hope he gets cut in training camp, but immediately gets picked up by a more worthy team and thrives.
Per Ed's article:
Quote:Toward the end of the seventh round, he began receiving calls from teams interested in signing him as an undrafted free agent. Thirteen teams called, said Pascal and his agent, Chris Coy.
“I got to choose between all the teams I wanted to go to,” Pascal said Monday. “The best option for me was the Redskins, which is funny, because it’s right here.”
Great to hear he had options. Go Zach!

It's interesting to watch the draft Round 7 as intently as I was. That was a new feeling. Another new feeling was just the hope one of the guys gets drafted, regardless of team. I was even rooting for them when it was the cowboy's selection... crazy.
Ok, maybe both of you guys will kind of get your wish, he will end up with the Cowboys, and we will all be happy!

I'm thinking LT is feeling pretty good about their program with 3 drafted this year. That's SOLID.

For what it's worth, saw on sbnation Pascal is listed as a running back with the skins. Mistake or is he going to get a look at rb?

If you're good, it's better to be an undrafted FA.

Hmm are there any other rb's his size?

Zach is 6'2 207. LaTavius Murray is bigger. 6'3 230.

If Pascal stays healthy I bet he makes the team. Pascal will really bring a lot of value on special teams as the 5th or 6th receiver. I think Coward has a decent shot as well.

For some reason I was thinking Pascal was a lot taller and leaner. Disregard. =]

RE: Pascal and Coward go undrafted
I am wondering if Pascal (agent) picked the right team if he did have so many options. At best, there will be one new Redskin receiver to make the team. 5 locks are Pryor, Doctson, Crowder, Quick and Grant. That means Zach would have to beat out a 6th Round draft pick Robert Davis and two other UDFA WRs (kids from Maryland and Louisville). Maybe he can do it with special teams prowess, but a 6th round draft pick gets a huge advantage over an UDFA for a roster spot. The player personnel guys who used a draft pick on him don't want to look bad.

Wait a sec. A couple of pages or so ago you said 6th and 7th rounders were "crapshoots," and at the very least intimated there really wasn't any difference between them and immediately signed UDFAs. I wasn't aware that player personnel guys made roster cuts and certainly don't have the power to override who the coaches wants on their roster. In the Redskins glory days, Beathard got the players, Gibbs & Co. coached them. I agree the competition among receivers on the Redskins will be daunting, but Grant has shown little, Quick has basically been ordinary. I like Harris, an undrafted FA who made the club and had a couple of good games, but I think Pascal has a chance, at least at PS. My .02.

Please dont count Doctson in until he can show hes actually healthy and can string together a couple games. I'm a redskins fan too btw.

It is a crap shoot predicting whether anyone in that large group will get drafted, but once someone gets drafted, the die is cast and the draft pick normally gets priority in making a roster over a UDFA. That bias is not always set in stone. In other words, if the UDFA is more than marginally better than the draft pick during training camp, then he will make the roster. But, if it is close, the benefit of the doubt goes to the draft pick.

Quick and Grant are not locks for roster. Its also not just trying make the Skins but make an impression with other teams

That is very true. NFL players are always auditioning for the rest of the league. I am just wondering if any of the other 13 or so offers that he supposedly had had less of a long jam on the WR depth chart. I think Quick is a lock based on the money he was given and the track record. Grant could be beaten out. I am not saying Zach cant make the team but he will have to be a lot better than Grant and Davis and really perform on special teams. Practice squad might be the most realistic possibility.

I like Coward's chances. Bears are not deep at DL, and they did not draft a DT or sign one as an UDFA. Chicago seems like the perfect choice for him. Coward is very versatile. If he has a good training camp, I think he makes the roster or at least certainly practice squad.
