Today is draft day for EMU players
No one was expected to be drafted in rounds 1 - 3.

Best guesses for EMU players are round 7 or FA, both of which should develop later today.

I'll guess conservatively: Wylie - 7th round (taking the lead from Eagle Tough).

I'd also guess at least two FA, Gardner and POC. Any others are likely to be practice players for the off season stuff. (they need a lot of warm bodies).

BTW, I think on an analogy to minor league baseball, these NFL FAs to stock camps, etc. are by and large exploitative. Most FAs don't have much of a chance. Just like most MiLB players don't have much hope of making a MLB roster. They play because it takes say 25 players to stock a MiLB team so if 5 - 10 have MLB hopes, the rest are... playing for pennies + meal money and a dream.

So we have 10M+ players in MLB and 10K players in MiLB. #NotFair MiLB players deserve say 2x what they get.

The Lions take O'Connor in the 7th round!!

As an EMU and Lions fan, this has been one hell of an offseason. TJ Lang and POC on the same roster!

RE: Today is draft day for EMU players
When was the last time EMU had played drafted in back-to-back years? Has that ever happened before?

A sign of the program moving in the right directions.

Off the top of my head, 98 and 99. Charlie Batch and LJ Shelton.

Good and the signings are legit.

We all know that POC, Wylie and Gardner were the three seniors who are most 'NFL-ready'.

Congrats to POC on getting drafted. Looks like everyone will get their opportunity. Can't ask for more than that.

Pat O'Connor will not only make the Lions, he will be a fan favorite on special teams and as a situational defensive player...now if only Nigel Kilby remained on the team. He has 3-5 round draft potential.

Congrats to POC. He's a football player thru and thru.

Ron Rice wasn't drafted (free agent) and he had a really nice career with the Lions.

Anyone else notice that Drake had a TE drafted in the 5th round? Oh, the irony.

My understanding, maybe incorrect, is that he is in school but will not play in 2017.

This is getting more and more common in collegiate football.

I have NO idea if it applies to Kilby or any other EMU FB player, but CC does have a known 'one, two and three strike policy' for various offenses or problems.

Heaven knows, as we learned Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in Philly (NFL draft), players get into a ton of problems which they have to overcome...

We have to move forward and forget Kilby. However, I agree Bob that Kilby had a great freshman year and was setting himself up for a monster sophomore year. Against CMU prior to Bailey's game winning TD, I believe Kilby made a tough catch in traffic to sustain the drive and convert a 4th down. I didn't see him drop many passes if he touched the ball. He will be hard to replace this year.... next man up!

That was Aristilde on 4th down of the final drive against CMU.

But Kilby did have a great year. Big touchdowns against Charlotte, BGSU, and Miami.

Neither Cooper Rush nor Zach Terrell drafted, surprising some. Rush to Cowboys and Terrell to Ravens as FA's. Roback has better measurables, and way better arm strength than both of those guys. He will very likely impress scouts with his arm at his Pro Day. A big Senior year with limited turnovers should put him in the draft discussion.

I'm shocked, despite what the 'experts' say on Terrell.

Some QBs, like Drew Brees, do nothing but complete passes.

And, for Pete's sake, NFL team would be drafting Terrell in the 6th or 7th round to be a BACKUP. No one expects him to be a Stafford or Rogers or Brady.

So to compare Terrell to a first rounder is a false comparison. He doesn't need to be 6' 4" and have a rocket for an arm.

QB is one position where a player can be drafted and groomed as a backup and that is because of the nature of the position.

No one expects (or hopes) a backup QB to get 30 - 40% of the snaps. If he is expected to get only mop up duty, why waste a 3rd round pick on a back up QB prospect? This is in start contrast to DLs, RBs, etc. where a 3rd DE is expected to get a lot of snaps. Ditto a 2nd or 3rd RB.
