And USA grad transfer, center Joe Scelfo (finished his 5th yr @ NC State), signs UFA contract with the Houston Texans. Good for him and best of luck to all of our SBC kids, drafted, UFA's and tryouts alike!

All of the kids being signed today are UFA's. They get to the "tryout guys" a couple to a few days after the draft.
They go by priority: 1 - the drafted, 2 - the UFA's and 3 - the invitees (for tryouts)... exactly in that order of importance.

If he happens to make it and starts one day and plays on Monday Night Football, guess what he will say? "Josh Scelfo, Center, NC State." I know, frustrating.
Several years ago, when I finally saw a MNF game in which we had a starter, he listed his elementary school. I was like WTF?

RE: 2017 NFL Draft Picks Thread
Stolen from GSUFANS.COM
DRAFTED 5TH Eligwe: Drafted alone makes his odds good to atleast make the practice squad, which means you are one injury away from a roster spot. He has the tools to make the team of he can pick up the playbook quick enough.
UDFA Gallon: Fits the mold for a Bruce Arians player, should get a long look as at least a special teams contributor or a practice squad player.
UDFA J-Croc & UFDA BJ: he and BJ may have the greatest chances of the UDFAs. GB didn't have hardly any depth at WR by years end, and 9ers have very few big names now that Torrey Smith is gone. Both may stockpile some WR and have a few extras on the practice squad.
ROOKIE CAMP INVITE Dawson: Toughest road because he has to make it out if rookie camp to even be in team camp.
UDFA Brieda: He is going to have to impress either in the return game or as a back. He has the tools, just has to prove it to the coaches.
UDFA Kwon: OL may be one of the toughest positions to make it, especially being undersized. He has the heart, just needs to leave it all out there.
UDFA Koo: if he can show that he can hit the extra point 10 out of 10 times he can make the team. Hitting consistently from 45 plus with the range to hit from 50 plus will definitely help his odds.
Not bad for all being FCS recruits except for Eligwe.

RE: 2017 NFL Draft Picks Thread
I think only one of the 22 other people who have run for over 5,000 yards in their college careers have not received an opportunity to play in the NFL. It is looking more and more like Cox is going to be number 2.

Okay, I have a cousin who played for the Packers and two other teams and that's what he told me. Perhaps it just depends upon the team's GM then.

It probably depends on the player. Considering there is a consensus period where Priority Free Agents are contacted, there are proper time periods for invites, though the invites move quickly. So all three priorities could be met in one afternoon if all of your targets sign.

Great point. So we're all probably correct

A lot of UFA's are known and basically signed within minutes after the draft. They may not sign on the dotted line, but clubs know who they want and pretty much have an agreement with them when the time comes.
Issue is, UFA's face an uphill battle just to make the team because in those final decisions, many clubs will give priority to the kids they drafted over the one's they signed as a UFA. Happened to one of our former players last year. He was great for the Falcons all Preseason, but they gave the last spot to a guy with worse stats because he had been drafted.
