But, it turns out, the money came from a member of Israel’s Steinmetz family, which built a fortune as one of the world’s leading diamond traders.

Why do you dislike jewish people?

Everyone is unethical at those levels. Warren Buffet is shady. Google and Apple are shady because they utilize tax shelters and shell corps to avoid paying U.S. taxes. HRC was shady with her infamous cattle futures trade. Bottom line is that selective outrage is tedious. You either need to make massive changes in the most fundamental of ways or we allow for a certain level of subterfuge because the system is otherwise the least corrupt economy when compared to other countries. Taking the middle road is not consistent here because then you become selective of what corruption is OK vs offensive. This is the realm most political pundits trying to sell books and themselves live in.

I'm trying to figure out what is even remotely shady about this... what am I missing?

That the wealthy use perfectly legal methods to protect themselves and their wealth from lawsuits and variations in international laws by creating shell corporations to hold assets? That Jared Kushner has Jewish Friends? That 5 years before his father-in-law ran for President, and in an event that really surprised everyone, actually won... that the s-i-l was being 'bribed'? The Vegas odds on that would have been a billion to one, and you're saying someone bet $50mm on that long shot?

The family made their money in what appears to be a perfectly legitimate way... actually fairly common among the ethnic community, and invested in NY real estate, ALSO fairly common among that same ethnic community...


And since when are SOHO or the villages a 'tiny communities'?

did WHAT really happen? That a wealthy Jewish family invested in 'trendy' Manhattan real estate with a wealthy Jewish land developer who is the son-in-law of an even wealthier developer??

I don't know (nor care, since it all seems perfectly legal) if it happened or not... but the 'bribe and potential conflict' is absolutely 'fake news'.
