IIRC, the first meeting is supposed to be in August. You guys will probably find out a few days before the meeting.

Well, it certainly looks like this has fizzled out.

I received an email earlier this week thanking me for my application and that an announcement would be made July 21. Did they release anything today?

I received the same email, except I never completed the application. I started it, but never submitted! It must have gone through incomplete.

Applications are being accepted for the Huskie Fan Advisory Board
I was hoping that they would get representation from Chicago and suburbs further from DeKalb who could express firsthand the hardships of attending games at bad times and winter weeknights.

I see at least one politician and one that bugs me.
Oh well. Hoping for the best.

RE: Applications are being accepted for the Huskie Fan Advisory Board
I know that this board has fans of Huskie athletics going back to the 60's (maybe 50's?), the 70's, 80's. 90's, all the way to the present. I know many different views are regularly expressed here, and that overwhelmingly, we strongly support the Huskies. I know we have students, young alums, fans struggling financially, fans that have climbed the hill and are doing just fine, parents, grandparents, a little of everything. What a great place to mine for members to a "fan advisory board."
That being said, did anyone here get selected? I did not.
I received that same e-mail a few minutes ago about the board being established-- and it says nothing-- nothing -- about how anyone was selected, what their hope was in making the selection, the criteria used, the amount of interest, etc. Nothing. And my "thank you for applying. We appreciate your interest. We have chosen the following people for this and this reason. We look forward to your continued support, etc." That e-mail apparently was caught by my spam folder, cuz I haven't seen it yet. I will go look for it now.

It looks like those who lived in the immediate area had an advantage. I live in Chicago, for example.

RE: Applications are being accepted for the Huskie Fan Advisory Board
I'm sure they wanted people to be in a closer proximity given that meetings will need to take place during the week I would assume. With that said, it's the first year, so once the discovery phase of this year is over then they can reach out to the further distances. It's hard getting 12 people from all areas of the state into a room, so if I was running it during its first year I would do the same thing. First see how many meetings those close attend, and then think about going out further.
With that said, Athletics didn't HAVE to do this, so lets see how this first year plays out and then critique it after.

No one should be making assumptions on whether someone further away can attend or not. If someone who lives further applied, they have the commitment to attend. They needed people from further away to provide that perspective. This is a snub of those who do not live in their perceived marketing area target.
